With 2 billion dollars under management with advisors and portfolio managers. Looking for a person to be a quant engineer (not a quant) this implies a lot of coding (manager said this) Excellent programming Skills any language, not scripting Getting oriented with new things. Ability to learn is important Understanding financial concepts is a plus, but they would take someone with strong programming skills and teach them finance. But if someone has financial experience is a plus Coding is done in Python, but ANY programming language is good. Someone who knows multiple languages is good. Quantitative research projects that are in a backlog situation, taken from research to production, work with portfolio managers, quant analysts and IT to do this. Good communications. ASK YOUR CANDIDATE if they are doing Python as scripting only (then they arent right for it) --- or if they are using PYTHON (as an ood language building complex things) for engineering<--- This is what they want, Complex systems. C, C++, MATLAB, Rust, R, , <-- they want to see evidence of this person to be able to work on complex analytical system They dont want a scripting guy; they are looking for someone doing Python programming / engineering. he /she must talk Engineering. Pspark, Pandas they use all of those but prefer someone who is willing to go from rust to python. High frequency trading, going from rust to python would be considered They will be implementing quant processes and models onto the system, Bloomberg is a strong plus Work with the Database effectively, write SQL queries, understand data errors very very capable in this area. SQL Server or any other data base is good. Need to see evidence on the resume that the person can work on complex systems and financial mathematics Their latest hire was someone from a delivery start up where the person was optimizing driver routes must do some kind of mathematical work TOP THREE SKILLS SETS MUST HAVE Excellent programming skills / strong coding / excellent programming skills. (python or other any other engineering languages) Excellent databases knowledge and SQL doing complex queries (database is an MS SQL but they will take any RDBMS) Understanding of financial instruments and financial concepts / or ability to work on astro physics or other showing that youve understood quantitative analytics Strong understanding of mathematics to understand what quantitative analytics is - Implement quantitative research projects -Extend existing quantitative analytics code base -Integrate new data sets into the analytics process -Work closely with various stakeholders including portfolio managers, risk managers, analysts, IT, and vendors -Monitor and maintain constantly changing data sets and manage the data across a variety of systems Qualification Requirements: - 2-5 years of relevant experience -Excellent programming skills (python, R, Rust, C, or c++) -Excellent knowledge of database concepts and SQL -Understanding of financial instruments and investment concepts a plus <---note they are not looking for Quants in financial, could be other quant analytics code -Strong attention to detail -Superior written and verbal communication skills and track record of successfully collaborating with a variety of stakeholders -Fast learner and ability to quickly learn new concepts EVERYTHING THAT IS A PLUS is a PLUS - Familiarity with Python is a plus (must have some other programming language, Java or C++ if he doesnt have Python) -Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI is a plus <----- a big plus for this, or must learn it on the job -Familiarity with Bloomberg PORT/MARS, Barra Risk Models, and Aladdin is a plus <--- here there are saying financial is a plus .
