The Core Network Engineer will lead the design and engineering of J&Js next-generation global WAN infrastructure. Working closely with network architecture and other senior design engineers, you will contribute to the engineering teams next-generation network design. You will work on SDWAN, cloud, and other next-generation solutions while maintaining and working on the core enterprise network. Our team of engineers is building the next generation network to support J&J's cloud initiatives. The team leads crafting networking solutions and partnering with peers to analyze vendor solutions and integrations with third party cloud solutions and providers (e.g. Office365 and Amazon Web Services) As a member of the engineering team, you will have expert proficiency with enterprise WAN technologies, including deep Cisco SDWAN experience, expert BGP design knowledge, developing cost-efficient network designs. You should also understand network virtualization, cloud computing, NGFWs, WLAN and LAN design, and other leading-edge technologies. A key role will be to transform sophisticated problems and abstract concepts into supportable technology solutions. These technology solutions will focus on automation, orchestration, and fault management. You will be responsible for detailing these designs and ensuring communication and delivery of these services globally. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities This is a highly technical role so the associate must also have strong technical skills. This associate should be familiar with Firewalls, Load Balancers, Cloud and COLO infrastructure, SASE cloud environments, and firewall rules management. Use Network Tools and Services to troubleshoot the network such as FMC (firepower management console) F5 BigIQ for load balancing, Logic Monitor, Cisco DNAC, Cisco CDO. Heavy focus on Design with a strong focus on Security Firewalls, DMZs, COLOs, OPCO Data Centers, ICE environments, site Internet gateways and VPN Connectivity. GTM (Global Traffic Manager) and LTM (Local Traffic Manager) to load balance traffic for application services. Contribute to the intake process for network design requests and provide a point of contact for in-region projects. Partner with architects on requirements and outcomes. Establish and maintain regular communications with network architecture, deployment, and operations teams to answer questions related to network design. Develop next-generation network solutions (such as SDWAN and Cloud Networking) with appropriate documentation, templates, use cases, and acceptance testing Collaborate with teammates and management on best practices for network standards. This includes providing supporting documentation and training to the regional support teams. Collaborates with the Automation and Tools Engineering team to assist in the development of scripts for automated configuration deployment. Develop software release management plans for WAN devices. This includes documentation updates, validation testing, and communicating new versions of code to relevant teams. Partner with external service providers to provide talent and services to drive high standards Drive innovation through automation of services and capabilities Position Requirements (Consider and identify requirements potential applicants must meet to be considered for the position): Qualifications: BA/BS required and degree in STEM field preferred 6 years of relevant technology experience 5 years of understanding a large enterprise network 3 years of demonstrated experience working with F5 Load balancing, Big IP, LTM, and GTM. 3 years of demonstrated experience working with SD-WAN solutions 1-2 years of automation development with scripting experience in Shell, Ruby, Python, Perl or YAM Expert understanding of networking protocols required to establish networking connectivity (ARP, Expert understanding and experience in enterprise infrastructure protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, ECMP, QoS, etc.) Expert understanding and implementation experience of Cisco SDWAN (Viptela) networking including an understanding of OMP as well as current features in Ciscos latest code releases Current knowledge of IPv6 and the differences between IPv4 and IPv6 in an enterprise environment Current knowledge and understanding of cloud providers and cloud networking solutions Understanding of software/cloud applications and migration to public cloud services. Understanding of route optimization, load balancing, IP Address Management, and other network optimization and management techniques and Understanding of the various network hardware and software manufacturers and their roles within the industry, e.g. Cisco, Arista, Juniper, VMWare, and F5. Understanding of wired and wireless connectivity protocols such as spanning-tree, wireless spectrums, wireless authentication, etc. Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience presenting designs to peer engineers. Preferred: CCIE or equivalent certification Cisco Certified DevNet Associate 1 years of automation development with scripting experience in Shell, Ruby, Python, Perl or YAML.
