Provides project database support with specific focus on availability, capacity, performance, security & recoverability. Performs database installation & configuration, tuning, capacity planning, health checks, backups & recovery & change management according to documented standards. Troubleshoots issues with database instances, DR, replication & backups & eliminates root causes thru systematic problem management practices. Provides database development/project support in compliance with database design standards. Designs & develops database systems to meet application & business requirements across multiple platforms & computing environments. Provides guidance on best practices & supports the project teams with database related activities throughout the software development lifecycle Evaluates and certifies database technologies. Designs, develops & drives global implementation of database standards, tools and procedures throughout the IT organization. Ensures database security controls meet internal & external audit & compliance reqmts. Implements database technologies for global standards, data classification, & data privacy according to regulatory guidelines. RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs in all database management areas & applies advanced knowledge. Sets quality standards relative to all aspects of database management. Consults with management to promote & develop technical enhancements. Manages large, complex, long-term projects or projects that are critical priority for the user community; leads initiatives & special projects. Role model/mentor in database & business user community. Evaluates & recommends the purchase & utilization of technologies (DMBS/s, servers, extract & conditioning tools, metadata management, security tools, archival/recovery tools & data access). Develops project plans for implementing data warehouses; designs data storage & management processes for specific data warehouse projects. Plans projects & oversees the tactical aspects of a data warehouse implementation & maintenance. Diagnoses, resolves & implements preventive measures for applications & system software. Analyzes & works on non-standard problems or issues that span multiple technologies (browser to spindle & proposes long-term solutions & fixes). Recommends & oversees implementation of system level configuration modifications. Performs complex application environment builds & refreshes. Creates & implements disaster recovery procedures.
