Title: Sr. Cognos Administrator Any visa Location: Hybrid (Houston TX) TRY FOR LOCALS The Cognos/SQL Server Administrator works with the Business Intelligence Team and is responsible for developing and implementing Cognos upgrade strategy and administration. This role will be in the Data Warehouse and the Business Intelligence area. The Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence team supports the operational and management reporting, analytics, and the BI infrastructure. The Cognos Administrator is the point person for the Cognos environment. The administrator defines and architects the best practices of the Cognos infrastructure, coordinate operational design, develop support plans and provide support for applications. Job Responsibilities: System administration of the Cognos tool and the environment Support the development and training of users/developers when needed. Support the Path to Production migrations. Provide technical support to Cognos power users. Implement and maintain Cognos security. Troubleshoot Cognos infrastructure related problems. Document Cognos standards and procedures. Framework development to support new reporting requirements from the business. Design/develop functional analytical cubes and the associated ETL process. Interface with the IBM Support for elevated technical support. Monitor batch processes and servers for performance issues. Work with Scrum Teams for maintaining constant uptime. Develop dependencies, alerts, trend analysis and dashboards to monitor and support the infrastructure. Requires excellent organization and communication skills. Apply expertise to the implementation of Business Intelligence application to support global reporting. Manage Cognos BI reporting, while utilizing best practices and innovative ideas to build, maintain, distribute and educate users on the reporting & query functionality of Cognos BI. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems/ Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Experience in Cognos BI configuration, administration and environment troubleshooting with multiple versions of IBM Cognos. Experienced in Dynamic Cubes design best practices along with deployment techniques with large data Must have experience with publishing/deploying Cognos objects across various environments. Must have design principles of Framework manager model, design principles of relational and dimensional data models. Expertise with Data Modeling, Database design, and proficiency with SQL scripting in Analytics and associated areas. Expertise with in-depth analysis of SQL queries, query Optimization, redesign capability for meta-data models, report design and cube designs against regular Data Warehouse, Data Marts & Operational Data Store. Must have experience in developing and publishing packages using Framework Manager. Must have experience in IBM Cognos Major Version Upgrade projects by utilizing various techniques and BI Industry best practices.
