From: Rohit Dubey, Vyze Inc [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] We are Hiring Job Description - Sr. Linux Architect Location: Hybrid in Denver Colorado (Remote) Duration: 12 Months Visa: No H1B and CPT MOI: Skype Required: Major Duties and Responsibilities: Define, maintain, and be responsible for the Linux golden image initiative across the organization. Actively and consistently support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience. Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas. Analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation as necessary. Test and review system designs. Provide technical support and guidance to regional personnel, ensuring that all technical integrations, changes, standards, and documentation are met. Mentor and guide the work of technical staff. Review work plans and designs, advising on potential improvements. Adhere to applicable industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations. Understand and follow company policies. Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities. Perform other duties as requested by the manager. Basic / Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and/or equivalent work experience. Extensive experience in UNIX/Linux engineering. Serve as the Linux subject matter expert. Solid experience in Linux engineering, troubleshooting, testing, hardening, and performance tuning. In-depth understanding of the Linux kernel. Solid experience with package management using Artifactory and Satellite Server. Familiarity with RPM tools such as ip, dnf, and nmcli. Experience with apt, Ubiquity, Debian Installer, and UFW. Proficiency in writing, reading, and understanding YAML and JSON files. Strong automation/scripting skills in Perl, Bash, Python, or related languages. Solid understanding of configuration management tools like Puppet and Chef. Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing Linux file systems. Working DevOps experience utilizing Ansible and Terraform. Experience with vCenter, VMware OVFTool, and HashiCorp Vault and Packer tools. Knowledge of CIS Workbench hardening, Linux Test Project, and test case development. Working experience with TestRail to streamline testing processes. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in creating technical drawings and schematics using Lucidchart or Visio. Experience with GitLab, including workflow creation, CI/CD pipelines, and variable setting. Experience in a SAFe/Agile environment, utilizing Jira Portfolio/Jira Align to manage projects and daily tasks. Certifications (preferred but not required): Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Certifications Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE) Project - They are doing zero touch deployment of servers. Someone with this experience would be beneficial. They are using Canonical MaaS (metal as a service) This position is very heavy on the Automation and Scripting side. (Ansible/Terraform and Bash/python/perl). This will be 60% of their job. Other 40% is Linux. Please ensure the following key skills are considered when sourcing talent: - Extensive experience with the Linux operating system - Proficiency with RPM-based and Debian-based Linux distributions - Strong automation skills with Ansible and Terraform - Solid understanding and hands-on experience with containerization - Knowledge of GitLab and CI/CD pipelines -Will accept out of state candidates that will relocate to Denver on day 1 -Interview process is now 1st will be Video/WebEx. Second interview, in person. *For out of state candidates, they can do this from one of our other office locations where we can confirm that no one is in the room with them or they will need to do an in-person interview -Will NOT look for candidates that are DevOps Engineers, Sys Admins, DBA's, etc. These are not transferable skills -This is an Engineering team. There are no after hour calls -If someone has a skillset that is listed in summary, need to be in body of resume as well Things that he wanted to reiterate with what he is looking for: -This is an Engineering team. Not a Sys Admin or DBA team -Needs to know Linux inside and out, all the way to the kernel level. Will ask questions like "How does a Linux OS work" , How deep is their understanding of Linux -Needs to know different flavors of Linux -Need to know kernel, file systems, partitions -Need to know how do you kick start file systems -As far as golden images - a golden image is a copy of a reference computer's virtual or hard disk drive and its contents. Sometimes referred to as a clone image, master image or base image, a golden image includes the operating system, settings, and software that user devices need to function in a corporate environment. -This person will be creating their own base image. Will also be securing and hardening of images -Needs to understand container images Docker and K8S images -Need to have exp and know Ansible and Terraform they will ask very detailed questions on this His org is Architecture and Engineering org, specifically Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture organization. They put together the technology road map for company. There are 5 different pillars in this org: 1. Compute Storage/Linux (this is Feridoons org) 2. Virtualization-VMWare 3. Networking Team 4. Automation/Orchestration 5. Architects (roadmap) This team is the Compute Storage/Linux team. They are the first step with hardware (physical storage and servers). They order servers, test, certify them etc. The systems that they use are Cisco, Dell, HP (Hewlett Packard), SuperMicro, Rackmount servers and blade servers. Additional Details: *This candidate needs 8-10 years. Not looking for a Junior person. *Must understand the Linux operating system in and out. Or other flavors (ideally redhat) *Must understand images (they have golden images) *Must know how to patch linux machines *Automation is also a big part (perl, bash, python) Ansible and Terraform also important. *CICD Pipeline knowledge is good. *Know Gitlab is important. - they are automating the golden image. *On the package side - they are using artifactory *AUTOMATION/SCRIPTING WILLL BE 60% FOR THIS POSITION. *This team is a Engineering and Architecture Team. So Admins or DevOps etc. are not applicable to this team. *Not looking for a job hopper. *Not looking for someone who hasn't elevated in their career either. *Companies to target - a security clearance organization. *Candidate must have ENTERPRISE Environment Experience.
