Job Role: Network Engineer Job Location: Hunt Valley, Maryland (Looking for local consultants or near by states) Duration: 12+ months contract Years of experience: 10+Years Onsite from Day 1 Competencies: FortiGate SD-WAN, Network Security : Fortinet Visa : looking Only H1B Role Description: The Fortinet Firewall expert for the company. This person will be the lead firewall engineer for the company. The lead firewall maintenance, support, troubleshooter, and architect. Manage and maintain Fortinet firewalls, ensuring their optimal performance and security. Utilize Forti Manager to centralize the management of Fortinet devices and streamline configurations. Implement and support firewall standardization initiatives to enhance network security and efficiency. Utilize FireMon for firewall management and policy compliance. Support the Enterprise Networking team in daily operations and long-term projects. Provide general networking support, including troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure. Use of ITSM ticketing tool for incident and change management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network reliability and performance. Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to prevent downtime. Document network configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures. Present to the Change Management Board (CAB) the proposed change, and all necessary artifacts for approval.Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in network security and management Essential Skills: Expert knowledge of Fortinet Firewall and Fortinet FortiManager. Experience 7+ years of Fortinet Firewall setup and management. Extensive experience using FortiManaager to manage Fortinet Firewalls, policy management and deployments, and using Policy Blocks. Extensive experience with SDWAN setup and configurations; 5+ years. Extensive experience with IPSec tunnel setup and configurations; 5+ years. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent understanding of network protocols, routing, and switching. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Must have experience with Change Management processes which would include change documentation, roll back plans, risk assessments, artifacts, scope identification and stakeholder approvals. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Relevant certifications such as Fortinet NSE, CCNA, or equivalent are a plus. Experience with other network security tools and technologies. Knowledge of firewall standardization processes and best practices. Experience with network monitoring and management tools. Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Familiarity with scripting and automation for network management. Experience with FireMon for firewall policy management and compliance is a plus.
