Position Title: Data Scientist 3 Position Location: Remote Duration: 06+Months Work Permit: USC, GC, GC-EAD Summary: The main function of the Data Scientist is to produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets. Education/Experience: Master of Science degree in computer science or in a relevant field or equivalent work experience required 3-5 years of relevant experience required. Role and the key responsibilities: Higher level Lead strategy development and communicate complex ideas and findings to leadership and a wide audience of business partners Collaborate with business partners to build business requirements for new tools and product features to implement changes to better detect and prevent fraud. Analyze effectiveness of fraud strategies and recognize new fraud trends and opportunities through the manipulation and comprehension of large amounts of multifaceted data. Comfortable working with large and verbose data sets across a wide range of subject matter areas. Background in SQL required, R or Python required, and big data and BI visualization experience preferred. Banking and fraud experience strongly preferred Inbound wire and ACH transaction fraud; incoming instructions meaning PNC does not create those transactions. PNC is just receiving funds or instructions for money to be pulled Understand the data that they are dealing with Be the SME on the transactions types and fraud that could happen on it Look at trends in data and help assist getting product on fraud platform and build out initial rule sets Be comfortable working with new data sets and data that doesn't have great data dictionaries Present data and analysis to business partners in operations, risk and LOB Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement. Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data. Generate and test hypotheses and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments. Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation. Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, which includes, but limited to support for the online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support. Must have technical skills/experience: SQL - 100% required R or Python - required Tableau - plus HADOOP - plus Understands concepts of machine learning Fraud experience - plus Wire ACH experience - plus Banking experience - nice to have Experienced in either programming languages such as Python and/or R, big data tools such as Hadoop, or data visualization tools such as Tableau. The ability to communicate effectively in writing, including conveying complex information and promoting in-depth engagement on course topics. Experience working with large datasets.
