Responsibilities Develop and Maintain Surveillance Systems: Design and deploy tools for monitoring trading behavior. Ensure systems meet regulatory requirements (e.g., MAR, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank). Customize surveillance tools to fit the specific trading strategies and markets. Alert Monitoring and Analysis: Create rules and models that detect anomalies (e.g., spoofing, layering, insider trading). Optimize alert thresholds to reduce false positives and improve detection quality. Data Management: Work with large datasets (trade data, order data, market data). Ensure data accuracy and availability for surveillance systems. Develop data pipelines to facilitate real-time analysis. System Automation and Optimization: Automate manual processes in trade surveillance to improve efficiency. Optimize existing systems for speed, scalability, and accuracy. Collaboration with Compliance and IT Teams: Work closely with compliance teams to understand regulatory needs and business risks. Collaborate with IT to ensure systems are robust, secure, and up-to-date. Investigation and Reporting: Analyze alerts and escalate potential violations to compliance.
