Overall Purpose The Software Engineer in Test (SDET) plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and performance of large-scale API, web, and mobile application interfaces. The SDET focuses on designing and implementing automated functional integration tests and end-to-end tests using open-source frameworks within an Agile environment to support product quality and performance goals. Candidates for this position are experienced, hands-on, and self-motivated engineers who thrive in a continuous integration and delivery environment. Essential Functions Collaborates with engineering teams to define testing requirements throughout the development lifecycle. Designs, implements, and executes automated tests for complex API, web, and mobile applications with back-end database integrations. Develops and maintains Java-based test automation frameworks and integrates test cases into the CI/CD pipeline. Reviews and diagnoses reported issues from automated test suites and ensures system quality before production releases. Coordinates with cross-functional engineering teams to perform comprehensive end-to-end integration testing. Creates and maintains SDLC artifacts, including test strategies, test plans, test cases, test procedures, and test summary reports. Manages source code and test repositories using Git. Tracks progress in Jira and documents technical decisions in Confluence. Submits pull requests and incorporates feedback from peer reviews. Ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and reliability of systems and data. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 5 years of experience in software testing, including test automation and integration. Proficiency in Java programming for test automation. Experience with Git source control. Strong knowledge of writing automated tests and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines. Proficiency with popular testing frameworks and platforms. Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases. Working knowledge of RESTful API design and testing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to pass a background and drug screen. Preferred Qualifications Experience with performance and load testing. 4+ years of experience with tools like Gatling, JMeter, Locust, or similar (Gatling with Scala preferred). Expertise in building and executing automated and performance tests for REST and XML/JSON-based services.
