Duties and Responsibilities Create tables, views, and stored procedures to support the enhancement/development and ongoing support of the Gun Center system. Responsible for ensuring the performance of the database. Securing the database and maintaining proper access to the database will be important. Provide solution design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation to support data analysis, processing, reporting, and decision-making for strategic initiatives. Design and enhance/develop the Gun Center database structure and objects required such as tables, views and stored procedures. Design and fully document the database structure and changes. Coordinate and manage the security of the database using industry-standard best practices. Database Management Specialist (SQL Server & Oracle) Develop structures and processes to support database solutions including availability, logging, monitoring, performance, scalability, and data quality. Develop and perform tests and validate all data processes according to business requirements and incorporate all business requirements into all design specifications. Adapt processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements. Provide support and maintenance for database changes and documentation. Facilitate responses to database issues, outages, and recoveries in critical situations, serving as a resource to remedy difficult technical issues. *Education and Certifications: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field. *General Experience: At least eight (8) years of experience as a Database Management Specialist At least four (4) years of experience in using current DBMS technologies, application design utilizing various database management systems and experience with DBMS internals. *Specialized Experience: At least six (6) years as Technical expert in IT organization. Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff. Provides technical input into the most complex and high impact IT decisions. Accountable for the most complex enterprise-wide applications and issues, translating highly complex concepts for peers and customers. Preferred Experience Qualifications: Understanding law enforcement data Knowledge of SQL server encryption Deep expertise in database architecture and experience in providing solutions Experience with SQL Server and Oracle in the areas of database administration, as well as schema design, database object development, management, optimization, and SQL programming, including stored procedures, triggers, functions, and error trapping Proven communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization, and to interact well in a team environment * Candidates chosen for an interview will meet the Education, General Experience and Specialized Experience requirements.
