In this position, you will play an architect role implementing solutions based upon our data management strategy. You will focus on delivering value-add projects using the existing data platform. You will design solutions that perform ELT, data enrichment, analytical workloads and solutions that require controlled data access. Your ability to translate complex technical subjects into clear business language will empower stakeholders to make informed decisions. You will ensure that the solutions support our immediate business objectives and that to the practical extent, are future proofed to grow with the business. In some projects you will be the sole contributor, designing and implementing the solution. In other projects you will work with other data engineers to implement your designs. You therefore will have strong hands-on data engineering skills, be willing to do the day-to-day work and have a robust understanding of the databricks platform. Job Responsibilities: Design and document solutions based on the Microsoft Azure and Databricks technology stack Hands on implementation of the solution design(s) Present the solution design(s) to colleagues (management and data engineers) Debug and redesign existing solutions Work with outsourced data engineers and coordinate daily engineering activities. Report progress of solution implementation to stakeholders Lead the release management process related to the implemented solution Experience and Abilities: BS, MS / PhD in Computer Science, or related discipline, or a Petroleum Industry expert cross-trained through extensive work experience within the data engineering domain. 12+ years _experience, less may be considered for the right candidate. Proven record implementing databricks based solutions at an enterprise level Comfortable with the databricks medallion architecture Robust understanding of databricks compute options and how to manage compute resources Implemented solutions in the past which merge, clean and store data - including data lineage Solid experience with Structured and Semi-Structured datasets Master of ELT/ETL within the databricks eco system Ability to develop and integrate Python notebooks into data pipelines. Ability to setup and control data ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory or Data Bricks. Extensive experience with common data engineering languages such as Python, R, Spark, SQL. Experience ingesting and processing data from Relational Databases Experience ingesting and processing data from secure REST APIs Comfortable with data visualization applications such as PowerBI, Spotfire Familiar with Azure Dev Ops (or similar tools) and with CI/CD concepts. Effective communication skills and the ability to effectively propose and discuss solutions with data engineers as well as business partners at the appropriate level of technical detail.
