Our client is seeking an

AWS Database Architect

.

Candidate will serve as both a technical expert and a strategic advisor, helping to guide our database architecture decisions as we continue to scale our cloud presence.

Job title- AWS Database Architect

Visa- , - Local only.

Location: Cincinnati, OH Fully On-Site. For the moment, client wants currently local candidates (within 30 min drive or so) and able to be fully on site 5 days per week.

This is a Senior role, minimum is listed as 5 years but they are probably looking for at least 8 as a DBA for the win.

REQUIRED Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of related experience.

Minimum of 3 years of database administration experience

At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS database services

AWS Database Architecture experience

DBA experience (AWS)

PostgreSQL

Relational Database (AWS RDS)

Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana

Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes

AWS certifications are highly valued, particularly the Database Specialty certification

Experience with data migration projects, particularly from on-premise to cloud environments

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Nice To Have:

Terraform or cloud formation

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced

AWS Database Architect

who will be instrumental in shaping and maintaining our cloud database infrastructure. This role combines traditional database administration expertise with modern cloud technologies, particularly within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem. The ideal

candidate will serve as both a technical expert and a strategic advisor, helping to guide our database architecture decisions as we continue to scale our cloud presence.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of our database environments, from initial design through implementation and ongoing maintenance. Your day-to-day activities will include managing our AWS RDS instances across multiple database engines, implementing robust backup and recovery strategies, and ensuring optimal performance of all database systems. You will work closely with development teams to understand their data needs and provide solutions that balance performance, cost, and reliability.

You will lead initiatives to modernize our database infrastructure, including planning and executing migrations from legacy systems to cloud-native solutions. Security will be a key focus area, requiring you to implement and maintain comprehensive database security measures including encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry standards.

Technical Requirements:

You should have extensive experience with AWS database services, including RDS, Aurora, and DynamoDB. A deep understanding of database optimization techniques is essential, as is the ability to troubleshoot complex performance issues. You should be comfortable working with both relational and NoSQL databases, and have experience with high-availability configurations in cloud environments.

Specific technical expertise should include:

Production experience managing AWS RDS at scale, PostgreSQL, and Aurora deployments

Experience with DynamoDB and other NoSQL databases is a plus.

Strong background in database performance tuning and query optimization

Proficiency with AWS security features and best practices

Experience with infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation

Ability to write and maintain scripts for database maintenance and monitoring

Understanding of disaster recovery principles and experience implementing DR solutions

Additional Skills:

Understanding of DevOps principles and practices

Experience with agile development methodologies

Background in performance testing and capacity planning

The ideal candidate will be someone who stays current with database technologies and cloud computing trends, has a proactive approach to problem-solving, and can balance technical excellence with business requirements. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and be able to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
