Position : DATA ARCHITECT Location : RICHMOND, VA or ATLANTA, GA ( Onsite) Duration : Long Term Contract About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting, modeling, and engineering data solutions using Snowflake as the data warehouse and Azure for cloud services. This role involves building conceptual models, driving execution, and enabling self-service data capabilities. The candidate should have strong experience with stored procedures and be able to work closely with various business units and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Architect and model data solutions using Snowflake and Azure. Build conceptual data models and drive them to execution. Implement stored procedures and avoid additional transition layers. Work with Snowflake to build comprehensive data sets. Conceptualize and implement the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) for specific business units (e.g., Retail Supply, CarMax Auto/Finance, ERP, HR, Accounting). Develop models that include autonomy and taxonomy for primary and secondary domains. Collaborate with the Data Engineering team and business analytics team to ensure successful execution. Communicate effectively with business stakeholders to discuss data requirements and solutions. Travel as needed to the Atlanta or Richmond office to work on-site and with stakeholders. Required Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a Data Architect Strong knowledge of Snowflake and Azure cloud services. Experience building and executing conceptual data models. Proficiency in stored procedures and data warehousing. Ability to work with Snowflake to build data sets and conceptualize EDM. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with business stakeholders. Willingness to travel and work on-site as needed. Strong strategic thinking and ability to prove out capabilities over a full fiscal year, with a likely 3-year onset. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with data architecture and implementation in a data warehouse environment. Knowledge of certified, curated data and enabling self-service long-term. Ability to work independently and take initiative in driving data solutions.
