In this role, you will leverage your expertise in AWS, Python, and Linux to develop custom software solutions and integrate open-source code for complex time series analysis. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing cloud technologies, with a focus on delivering cutting-edge Big Data solutions. This hybrid position allows for flexibility, with the expectation of spending 1-2 days per week in our Columbia, MD office. Key Responsibilities Systems Integration: Enhance, optimize, and increase the robustness of existing codebases. Identify and implement improvements to existing systems to increase performance and reliability. Cloud Infrastructure: Design and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS. Leverage infrastructure-as-code principles to build and automate virtual environments. Software Development: Develop and implement software architecture and core capabilities, from initial prototypes to fully operational applications. Collaboration & Autonomy: Work independently while aligning with the broader strategic goals set by the architecture team. Collaborate effectively with team members in a hybrid work environment. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the broader engineering team. Minimum Qualifications Security Clearance: U.S. ship is required. A Secret-level security clearance will be processed upon hire. Education & Experience: 9+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Java) with a Bachelors degree in a related field, or 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree in a related field, or High School Diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience. Cloud Experience: Demonstrated experience in developing infrastructure on AWS. Linux Expertise: Strong knowledge of Linux systems, including hosts, networks, security, and applications, with proficiency in scripting (/Bash). Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Certifications: Must obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications Clearance: TS/SCI clearance is preferred. Big Data Experience: Familiarity with DISAs Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR) is a plus. Containerization & CI/CD: Experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Gitlab-CI, Travis-CI). Agile Methodologies: Understanding of agile software development practices and proficiency with development tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github, Gitlab). DevOps Tools: Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Proxmox). Compliance: DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification may be required.
