Principal Engineer w/ Operational Excellence Location: Addison, TX 75001 (onsite 4-days per week) Need Local and LinkedIn JOB SUMMARY We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer for a 6M C2H opportunity that is located in Addison, TX 75001 (onsite 4-days per week). The Principal Engineer will let the technical execution of the software development efforts, including hands-on software development, software engineering, modern software development practices, and operational excellence. The Principal Engineer will not have direct-people management responsibilities, it does have complete oversight of application development, ensuring best practices in performance, triage, root-cause analysis, and system optimization. The Principal Engineer must thrive within a high-stakes environment, including War Rooms and Incident Response Scenarios. The Principal Engineer will play a crucial role in software modernization, driving improvements across the technology stack while fostering continuous improvement. Hands-On Development / Oversight of all Software Engineering Activities within the SDLC Lead Initiatives Focused on Operational Excellence / Software Performance Optimization / Modernization Triage / Drive Resolution of Critical Software Issues Leading War Rooms / Root Cause Analysis Sessions Collaborate with Engineering Teams Optimize Software Performance | Ensure Scalability / Reliability / Security Work Closely with Stakeholders Align Engineering Efforts with Business Objectives Oversee Technical Implementations Ensure Adherence to High-Quality Standards Provide Thought Leadership / Mentorship to Engineering Teams Foster Strong Technical Culture About the Project: The initial focus of this project will be on Operational Excellence. The Principal Engineer will drive business success by implementing process improvements and ensuring compliance with program requirements. To start, the Principal Engineer will be initially focused on Process Optimization, Automation, Performance Monitoring, Problem Solving, Collaboration, Standardization, Risk Management, and Training / Support. In tandem with the Operational Excellence, the Principal Engineer will be leading the modernization of their technology stacks. Some modernization has begun, moving more towards MicroServices and Cloud and planning the sunset of legacy systems, but it is more truly on cusp of being implemented full board. While they utilize Azure and AWS, in 2024 there was a big push to move everything to AWS but the efforts ultimately fizzled out for reasons that are unclear. The Principal Engineer will provide structure and order while designing and developing modern solutions.
