This critical position, based in Woodlawn, MD, is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Healthcare IT solutions serving Federal, State, and Local government clients. You will become an integral part of Peratons Health Systems Management unit, which focuses on delivering cutting-edge network security solutions to our government clients. Key Responsibilities: As a Senior Firewall Analyst, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Network Security Analysis & Design : Provide comprehensive technical analysis in the planning, engineering, and design of enterprise network security infrastructure. Subject Matter Expertise : Serve as the enterprise expert in the cross-functional discipline of enterprise network and cybersecurity infrastructure, offering guidance to teams and leadership. Firewall & Security Infrastructure : Maintain deep expertise in network and cybersecurity hardware/software interconnections, including routers, firewalls, and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS). Third-Party Coordination : Oversee third-party maintenance for network and cybersecurity equipment, ensuring optimal performance and security. Troubleshooting & Support : Troubleshoot and resolve network issues in collaboration with department users and network administrators. Provide third-level support, including occasional after-hours and weekend support. Security Monitoring & Risk Mitigation : Monitor network performance and throughput, identifying potential issues and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies. Network Architecture & Documentation : Develop and validate enterprise-level network security designs, providing detailed specifications and schematics for a unified network architecture. Vulnerability Assessment : Validate new equipment software and operating systems for security vulnerabilities and deficiencies. Secure Systems Design : Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and database products, ensuring they meet the highest security standards. Dashboard Development : Create high-level dashboards leveraging data from various network security tools to provide actionable insights and improve decision-making processes. Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements: Education & Experience : Bachelors Degree in a related field and 8 years of relevant cybersecurity experience, OR a Masters Degree with 6 years of experience, OR a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience, OR 12 years of relevant cybersecurity experience in lieu of a degree. Certifications : Active (expert-level) Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) certification. Experience : 6+ years of hands-on experience performing security functions on network devices, appliances, and security tools. Demonstrated ability to translate security mandates (e.g., NIST 800-series) into operational functions. Experience with whitelisting and blacklisting using network security tools and devices. Clearance : Ability to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance. Location : Must reside in or near Windsor Mill, MD. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with the following skills and experience will be given preferential consideration: Firewall Experience : 3+ years working with scalable firewall platforms (Checkpoint or Palo Alto products). Virtual Firewalls : 2+ years of experience working with virtual firewalls. Government Experience : Previous experience supporting the Social Security Administration or similar government agencies. Technical Knowledge : Strong understanding of networking principles, IT reporting, data flows, workflows, and security technologies. Familiarity with network security tools, technologies, and methodologies. Business Process Knowledge : Understanding of business processes supporting IT programs, networks, and cybersecurity initiatives.
