Position: Junior Scrum Master

Location: Remote (her team is mostly EST or CST). Local would be preference in IL

No OPT/CPT

Experience:  6-7 + years

Notes:

For scrum master: Certified is a plus. This person will have a lot of underground d2d duties. Meaning working behind the scenes/hands on role based on what she was saying. Personality will be HUGE for this. Healthcare/pharma background is preferred, but not needed

HUGE FOCUS: Looking for team leaders/attitude/communication/team player candidates will be asked scenario-based questions for soft skills they will have to give examples on what they do when running into conflict/how they handle conflict with stakeholders, etc.

 Role Definition

The Scrum Master is the person responsible for ensuring the team follows and adheres to Agile processes and practices. This roles provides leadership from a position of influence, without having actual authority. Key aspects are:

Establishing an environment where the team can be effective
Ensuring positive team dynamics to promote good relationships within the team and outside the team
Guiding the team to figure out the best way to apply Agile in their situation
Positioning the team to be successful in PI Planning events
Protecting the team from outside distractions, disruptions and obstacles
Ensuring continuous growth and improvement of the team

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning or dictating the work
Guide the team on using Scrum practices to deliver incremental value
Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame; emphasize problem solving and resolution
Schedule and lead Scrum ceremonies including tracking and managing team capacity
Provide coaching and guidance to team members
Represent team in Scrum of Scrums meetings and facilitate resolution of cross-team issues and obstacles, escalate issues to the RTE
Encourage and instill the importance of continuous improvement
Serve as communication liaison between the team, interfacing teams, and business stakeholders
Conduct review and planning sessions with team and product stakeholders
Work with team to schedule product demos

Skills & Competencies

Sufficient technical skills to describe and resolve impediments the team is experiencing, whether in requirements, development or test
Expert in Agile practices and ceremonies, including estimating, story writing & prioritizing techniques
Coaching, mentoring and conflict resolution
Familiarity with Agile tools used for managing backlogs and reporting status
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to drive collaboration
