Job Title: Senior MS SQL Database Architect Location: Remote End client- Lateetud Experience: 10-12+ yrs experience in MS SQL Database Architect Rate: $60/hour Introduction: We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior MS SQL Database Architect to join our dynamic Scrum team of database engineers. This role will play a pivotal part in supporting and validating our database refactoring efforts, ensuring that our databases are optimized for performance, scalability, and future-proofed for emerging technologies. As a Senior Architect, you will provide day-to-day guidance while actively contributing to core functionality, database optimization, and transformation efforts. Key Responsibilities: - Database Optimization & Refactoring: Identify pain points in the existing MS SQL database system and develop structured plans to address them, enhancing overall database performance, reliability, and scalability. - SQL Configuration & Performance Tuning: Configure, optimize, and fine-tune the MS SQL database, ensuring high performance, availability, and scalability in both transactional and analytical contexts. - Stored Procedure Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize stored procedures (SPs) and refactor data summarization processes for improved efficiency and responsiveness. - Data Transformation (OLTP to OLAP): Work on transforming OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) data into OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) structures to improve reporting and analytics capabilities. - Data Retention and Archival Strategy: Design and implement a data retention and archival framework utilizing hot, warm, and cold storage strategies to optimize both storage costs and retrieval speed. - Collaboration and Guidance: Actively participate in daily Scrum stand-ups, provide hands-on guidance to the team, and ensure alignment with project goals. Serve as a mentor to junior database engineers and assist in resolving complex technical issues. - Microservices Integration: Ensure that the database is streamlined and integrated seamlessly with our Kubernetes-based microservices architecture. - AI Preparation: Prepare and optimize the database for AI-driven applications, ensuring its adaptability to future AI agent requirements. - Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and suggest improvements to database structures, processes, and overall architecture, keeping the team and the database ahead of evolving technology and business needs. **Requirements:** - Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience in MS SQL database architecture, performance optimization, and refactoring. - Expertise: Strong expertise in SQL Server (2016 or higher) with a deep understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization. - Database Optimization: Proven experience in identifying performance bottlenecks and resolving issues related to database scalability and performance. - Data Transformation: Hands-on experience with transforming OLTP data to OLAP, especially for large datasets, and experience with data warehousing techniques. - Storage & Archival Strategy: In-depth knowledge of data retention and archival strategies, including experience with hot, warm, and cold storage concepts. - Microservices & Kubernetes: Familiarity with microservices architecture and its interaction with SQL databases, particularly in a Kubernetes-based environment. - AI Readiness: Understanding of how to prepare databases for integration with AI and machine learning systems. - Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills and experience working in a collaborative, agile development environment (Scrum or similar). - Tools & Technologies: Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Visual Studio, and related database tools. Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, P) and modern DevOps practices is a plus. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Experience with database refactoring in large-scale enterprise environments. - Certification in SQL Server, cloud platforms, or database management is a plus. - Familiarity with database version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
