Position Overview:

Morgan Stanley is seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in SAP ASE (Sybase), Redis, and PostgreSQL to join their team. This is a contract position offering an opportunity to work with a leading financial institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, system optimization, and troubleshooting, and be comfortable working in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Installation & Maintenance:

Oversee the installation, upgrade, and patching of various Database Management Systems (DBMS) such as SAP ASE/Sybase, Redis, and PostgreSQL. Ensure systems are optimized for performance and reliability.

Database Programming:

Write, deploy, and maintain database scripts to support operations, increase storage capacity, and troubleshoot issues. Develop and maintain new database programs and ensure they can manage large traffic volumes and data flow.

System Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

Monitor and troubleshoot platform-specific performance issues related to database functionality. Address and resolve system performance problems, including issues with work processes, locks, logs, and disk space.

Replication & Disaster Recovery:

Set up and troubleshoot database replication processes, including failover management. Implement and manage disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.

Performance Tuning:

Regularly analyze database performance, optimize query execution, and monitor system health to ensure peak performance and availability.

Security & Data Integrity:

Implement access controls, audit configurations, and maintain data integrity through data cleansing and verification processes.

Automation:

Use scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, , and other tools to automate repetitive tasks, backups, and other database management processes.

Collaboration & Documentation:

Work closely with the application team to provide database-related guidance and support. Prepare detailed documentation on system configurations, maintenance activities, and improvements.

Required Skills & Experience:

Experience:

5-7 years of hands-on experience in database administration, particularly with SAP ASE/Sybase, Redis, PostgreSQL, and Linux systems.

Technical Expertise:

Proficient in database installations, upgrades, patching, replication, and performance tuning. Strong knowledge of database architecture, schema design, and deployment.

Scripting:

Solid experience with scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, and for automation.

Database Troubleshooting:

In-depth experience in diagnosing and resolving issues related to database performance, system failures, and replication problems.

Disaster Recovery:

Experience in setting up and managing disaster recovery processes and ensuring business continuity.

Security & Auditing:

Knowledge of auditing setups and implementation of data access controls.

System Administration:

Expertise in Linux-based systems and general DBMS troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a financial or banking environment.

Ability to work in a hybrid setting (3 days in-office).

Strong problem-solving and attention to detail in high-pressure situations.

Interview Process:

Step 1:

Two video screening interviews.

Step 2:

Final in-person interview at the Alpharetta, GA office.

Candidates should be located within a reasonable distance (up to 3-4 hours drive) of Alpharetta, GA and be willing to travel for the in-person interview.
