Job DescriptionThe Senior Business Analyst will perform advanced business analysis work related to analyzing and implementing complex, emerging technology hardware and software projects for the Mainframe Transformation Program at the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC). The role will involve analyzing deployed functionality for Production Support and process improvement activities, with a strong focus on data modeling, data bridging, root cause analysis of data errors, and data flow documentation.
The candidate should have expertise in Microsoft SSIS, MS SQL Server, and Oracle and be familiar with technologies such as Informatica, MuleSoft, COBOL, Java, Salesforce, .NET, Oracle, Snowflake, and GoAnywhere.
Responsibilities include reviewing and developing documentation for ETL solutions between Microsoft SSIS and Oracle platforms and conducting in-depth analysis to improve existing data processes. The candidate will work with minimal supervision and must exhibit strong initiative and independent judgment.
Key ResponsibilitiesGather, develop, and document business and functional requirements for software development projects.
Analyze and document data models and data flows.
Conduct root cause analysis of data errors in Production Support environments.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional designs and develop technical specifications.
Facilitate interactive sessions with business and cross-functional teams.
Develop and maintain an understanding of key business drivers and data-related impacts.
Assist clients with identifying and solving business-related system and data errors.
Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and provide guidance to business and functional teams.
Participate in process improvement strategies and recommend more efficient workflows.
Ensure all project deliverables follow established processes, methodologies, and quality standards.
Provide documentation support for ETL development and data bridging between Microsoft SSIS and Oracle.
Minimum QualificationsYearsRequired Experience8+Business analysis experience with a focus on data modeling and data flow documentation.8+Strong interpersonal, collaborative, analytical, and technical writing skills. Experience with MS Office Suite and prototyping/mock-up tools such as Visio and SnagIt.8+Hands-on experience in requirements elicitation, client management, use case documentation, and traceability.8+Expertise in analyzing business and functional requirements and defining technical specifications.8+Experience in facilitating business and cross-functional team meetings.8+Strong analysis experience in Production Support and root cause analysis related to data and system bridges.8+Expertise in SQL, including MS SQL Server, SSIS, .NET development environments, Azure DevOps, Oracle, and data bridge analysis.Preferred QualificationsYearsPreferred Experience1+Familiarity with mainframe environments, hierarchical and relational databases, Informatica, MuleSoft, COBOL, Java, Salesforce, Snowflake, and GoAnywhere.1+Experience with process improvement strategies and methodologies.1+Proven ability to lead change and optimize processes.1+Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly in compliance and enforcement projects.1+Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multifaceted teams and manage conflicts.1+Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Work ConditionsHybrid/On-site work at Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC).
