As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining big data applications using the latest open-source technologies, specifically within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This position offers the opportunity to lead key projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to critical infrastructure in a collaborative, Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Data Engineering : Design and develop big data applications using GCP, Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Apache Kafka, and other open-source technologies. Data Modeling : Create and maintain logical and physical data models for large-scale data platforms. Pipeline Development : Build and manage data pipelines utilizing Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Apache Kafka, and other distributed technologies. Automation : Automate data workflows using Apache Airflow and other workflow orchestration tools. Maintenance & Enhancement : Provide ongoing maintenance and improvements to existing systems, ensuring robust and efficient data processing. Collaboration & Mentorship : Lead daily standups, design reviews, and mentor junior engineers to support their professional growth. Domain Expertise : Learn and understand the business domain and technology infrastructure to become the point of contact for your assigned business domain. Agile Development : Work within an Agile/Scrum environment, managing competing priorities with little supervision and using tools like JIRA to prioritize and manage the backlog. On-Call Support : Participate in rotational on-call support and troubleshooting activities. Required Skills & Experience Google Cloud Platform (GCP) : 4+ years of experience working with GCP services such as Dataproc, GCS, and BigQuery. Data Engineering : 12+ years of hands-on experience with data warehouse solutions, data products, and distributed data processing platforms like Hadoop, Hive, or Spark. Programming & Scripting : 5+ years of experience in languages such as Python, Java, Scala, and scripting languages (e.g., Perl, ). Data Modeling : 6+ years of experience designing and modeling schemas for data lakes and RDBMS platforms.
