The ideal candidate will have experience in installing, deploying, troubleshooting, and securing WebSphere Application Server while ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and automation. Key Responsibilities: 1. WebSphere Installation & Configuration Install, configure, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 8.5/9.0 and WebSphere Liberty. Configure profiles, nodes, cells, and clusters for high availability. Set up JDBC providers, data sources, JMS, and JNDI resources. Manage WebSphere administrative console, wsadmin scripting, and Jython scripting. 2. Application Deployment & Management Deploy EAR, WAR, and JAR files across WebSphere environments. Troubleshoot application deployment, class loading issues, and dependency conflicts. Configure Virtual Hosts, Class Loaders, and Shared Libraries. Automate deployments using Jython, Ansible, or scripting. 3. Security & Compliance Implement and manage SSL/TLS certificates, keystores, and truststores. Configure LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, OAuth, and role-based access control (RBAC). Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, and industry security standards. Perform vulnerability scanning, patching, and security hardening of WebSphere servers . 4. Performance Tuning & Optimization Monitor and tune JVM heap, garbage collection, and thread pools. Configure connection pooling, caching, and session persistence. Use Performance Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI), Tivoli Performance Viewer (TPV), and logs analysis for performance diagnostics. Troubleshoot high CPU, memory leaks, and slow application response times. 5. High Availability & Clustering Configure WebSphere clustering (vertical/horizontal scaling) and workload management. Implement failover, load balancing, and session replication with IBM HTTP Server (IHS) and WebSphere Plugin. Manage distributed environments, DRS, and network deployment (ND) configurations. 6. Troubleshooting & Log Analysis Analyze logs (SystemOut.log, SystemErr.log, FFDC logs) for issue resolution. Debug JVM crashes, OutOfMemoryErrors, and thread dumps. Use Splunk, ELK, or WebSphere Log Analyzer for log aggregation and analysis. Troubleshoot integration issues with databases, messaging systems, and third-party APIs. 7. Patching & Upgrades Apply fix packs, cumulative updates, and feature packs to maintain system security and performance. Perform version migrations (e.g., WAS 8.5 to WAS 9.0 or Liberty migration). Ensure compatibility with JDK, OS, and middleware updates. 8. Integration & Automation Automate administrative tasks using wsadmin, Jython, Python, Ansible, or scripting. Integrate WebSphere with AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift for cloud deployments. Work with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Ansible) for DevOps integration. Required Skills & Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 5+ years of experience in WebSphere Administration in enterprise environments. Technical Skills: Expertise in IBM WebSphere 8.5/9.0/Liberty administration. Proficiency in Jython, wsadmin scripting, and scripting. Strong knowledge of SSL/TLS, LDAP, SAML, OAuth, and security configurations. Experience with clustering, high availability, and load balancing. Understanding of JVM performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with IBM HTTP Server (IHS), Apache, or Nginx. Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenShift, Kubernetes) is a plus. WAS installation, rightsizing Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and documentation abilities. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
