UID: 27d8e9238cfd414cb85e7c4d37e4e444 Job Title: Software Development Engineer Location: Remote (Preference for candidates local to Dulles, VA) Length: Long Term Restriction: W2 or C2C Description: Webcam Interview | Long Term Project | Remote (Preference for locals to Dulles, VA) We are looking for a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to support testing activities for the Microsoft Fabric Release 1 project. The ideal candidate will work closely with business analysts, developers, domain experts, PMs, Admins, and DBAs to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions. This is a remote position, but preference will be given to candidates local to Dulles, Virginia. Key Responsibilities: Work with business analysts, developers, PMs, and other teams to understand business requirements and translate them into testing strategies. Develop test scripts for validating data across different layers (Fabric Bronze, Silver, Gold Layer tables, Power BI Reports, and more). Build data pipelines and dataflows for QA data validation (ingest files into Fabric, create robust data comparison workflows to match data in Staging and Target layers in Synapse Data Warehouse). Develop and execute T-SQL scripts for test validations (data completeness, data quality, transformation checks, uniqueness, timeliness). Implement shortcuts feature in Microsoft Fabric across workspaces to validate data between different sources and workspaces. Develop packages to import Power BI report data into Fabric tables. Conduct testing on Power BI canned reports, including data validation, visualization accuracy, performance testing, and security testing. Develop test artifacts such as test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for Fabric Synapse data warehouse and Power BI report integrations. Perform test execution, track defects, and maintain defect records in JIRA. Provide test status reports and update ALM (HP-Application Lifecycle Management Tool). Develop testing programs addressing areas such as database impacts, regression testing, negative testing, error, or bug retests. Stay up-to-date with the latest Microsoft Fabric product releases and provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and future enhancements. Qualifications: Strong experience in developing and executing test scripts, data pipelines, and SQL-based test validations. Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric (since its release in September 2023), or prior experience with Microsoft stack technologies such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Snowflake Data Warehouse, or similar data lakes. Experience with Power BI testing, including report validation, visualization accuracy, and performance testing. Expertise in T-SQL, data validation, and development of robust testing programs. Familiarity with JIRA, HP-ALM, or similar project tracking and defect management tools. Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams to define and execute testing strategies. Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Fabric. Knowledge of data lakes and cloud data platforms like Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Snowflake. Experience in performance testing, security testing, and UAT for Power BI reports.
