Core Priorities: 1. Cloud Architecture + Infrastructure Engineering Strong understanding of end-to-end infrastructure (compute, storage, network, middleware). Experience designing scalable, high-availability solutions. Familiarity with architecture standards, DR, performance tuning, and operations handoff. 2. Cloud Cost Optimization Hands-on with cloud cost tools (Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing). Able to analyze spend, identify waste, and implement savings strategies (reserved/spot instances, right-sizing, etc.). Experience using AI/ML models for forecasting is a plus. 3. Automation & Governance Scripting & Infra-as-Code (preferably Terraform). Building automated guardrails for spend management and operational efficiency. Strong in operationalization building sustainable, well-documented, repeatable processes. Strategic & Soft Skills: 4. Architectural Mindset They're lacking someone with architectural thinkingsomeone who sees beyond tools and helps shape cost-aware designs. Ability to quantify the value of automation and identify new opportunities for optimization. 5. Ownership of Spend They want someone who has been accountable for cloud budgetsi.e., whose name was tied to $500K+ spend. Must have a proven track record of making decisions with financial impact. 6. Cross-Functional Collaboration Will work with finance, engineering, operations, and business lines. Must communicate effectively across tech and business stakeholdersclarity, confidence, and ability to influence are key. Bonus Points For: Retail industry experience understanding how cloud usage aligns with sales cycles, promotions, seasonal trends, etc. Experience supporting 24/7 systems resiliency and uptime matters. Presentation skills they want someone who can confidently explain cost-saving strategies to leadership.
