Preferably with public sector utility experience. They will need to take over current work (new billing system implementation) at the Hickory NC utility on location for the first few weeks and occasionally on-site afterwards. Get me at market rate with Good experience with SQL more than 10 years and some experience with Tyler Munis. Can go for onsite. Key Responsibilities: Database Architecture & Design: Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure SQL Server database solutions. Translate business requirements into data models and database structures. Provide guidance on data warehouse and data lake architecture when required. Database Development: Develop complex T-SQL stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, and scripts. Collaborate with application developers to create optimized database queries and data access layers. Implement ETL/ELT processes using SSIS or equivalent tools. Performance Tuning & Optimization: Analyze query performance and implement indexing strategies. Troubleshoot long-running queries, deadlocks, and resource contention issues. Use tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Execution Plans, and DMVs. Database Administration: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL Server instances. Implement and monitor backup strategies, HA/DR (High Availability/Disaster Recovery) solutions including Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Replication. Manage user access, roles, and security policies. Data Governance & Security: Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Implement encryption, auditing, and secure access protocols. Support data lifecycle management and data quality initiatives. Consulting & Leadership: Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and offer data-driven solutions. Provide mentorship to junior DBAs and developers. Document database standards, policies, and best practices. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server Expert-level skills in T-SQL, query optimization, and stored procedure development. Proficiency in SSIS, SSRS, and optionally SSAS. Deep understanding of SQL Server Internals and performance tuning. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server) is highly desirable. Familiarity with DevOps concepts and tools like Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
