This individual will play a key role in the entire 3D printing process, from preparing digital models to post-processing finished parts, while ensuring all processes meet strict medical device industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 3D metal printing, CAD software, mechanical testing techniques, and process validation.Key Responsibilities: Operating and Maintaining 3D Metal Printers: Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of 3D metal printers to ensure smooth operation and high-quality output. Preparing Digital Models: Work with CAD software (e.g., Solidworks) to create or modify 3D models, preparing them for printing and optimizing settings to meet desired print quality and specifications. Post-Processing Printed Parts: Perform post-processing tasks such as cleaning, sanding, polishing, or applying finishes to printed parts, ensuring they meet quality and functional standards. Material Handling: Work with various 3D printing materials including plastics, metals, ceramics, and composites, ensuring proper storage and usage management. Mechanical Testing Knowledge: Apply mechanical testing techniques, including tensile testing, to assess the quality and performance of 3D printed parts. Process Validation: Develop and implement process validation strategies. Write and execute engineering studies and protocols, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ), Performance Qualification (PQ), Computer Software Validation (CSV), and Test Method Validation (TMV). Manufacturing and Inspection Procedures: Develop and implement procedures for manufacturing and inspection to ensure products meet regulatory and quality standards. Fixture, Tool, and Gauge Development: Lead or assist in the development and implementation of fixtures, tools, and gauges for production processes. Vendor Liaison: Act as a liaison to vendors for contracted products, tools, and fixtures to ensure quality manufacturing. Quality Control: Perform inspections to ensure products meet specifications and standards. Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the 3D printing or post-processing phases and optimize processes as needed. Troubleshooting: Identify, resolve, and troubleshoot issues during the 3D printing process, including print failures or material-related problems.Essential Skills: In-depth Knowledge of 3D Printing: Experience operating and maintaining advanced 3D metal printers. CAD Software Expertise: Proficiency in Solidworks or other 3D modeling tools for preparing digital models for printing. Post-Processing Expertise: Experience in post-processing techniques such as cleaning, sanding, polishing, or finishing 3D printed parts. Material Handling: Familiarity with working with various 3D printing materials including metals, plastics, ceramics, and composites.
