This critical role involves ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of our reporting and analytics infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle administration of Cognos, working closely with various teams to support business intelligence initiatives and ensure seamless data delivery to end-users. Key Responsibilities: Installation, Configuration & Upgrades: Perform installations, configurations, patching, and upgrades of IBM Cognos Analytics (versions 11.x preferred) and associated components across different environments (Development, Test, Production). System Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor Cognos system health, performance, and resource utilization. Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, implement tuning strategies (e.g., dispatcher tuning, query optimization, cube optimization) for optimal report execution and system responsiveness. Security Administration: Manage user security, authentication, and authorization within Cognos, including integration with enterprise directories (e.g., LDAP, Active Directory, SSO). Define and administer user groups, roles, and capabilities to control access to data and content. Content Management & Deployment: Administer the Cognos Content Store, including managing public and private folders, reports, dashboards, packages, and data modules. Facilitate content deployments across environments using tools like Lifecycle Manager (LCM) or Cognos Deployment. Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level technical support and troubleshooting for Cognos-related issues, including report failures, data connectivity problems, system errors, and user access issues. Perform root cause analysis and implement timely resolutions. Data Source & Connection Management: Configure and maintain data source connections to various databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata) and data warehouses, ensuring reliable data access for reporting. Backup & Recovery: Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies for the Cognos environment and its content store to ensure business continuity. Collaboration: Work closely with BI developers, data architects, database administrators, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure the analytics platform meets business needs. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Cognos configurations, administration processes, troubleshooting guides, and security policies.
