Req: 6+ JOB DESCRIPTION This is a software development position, not a maintenance role. On the AS/400 (also known as IBM i), there are several types of RPG (Report Program Generator) programming languages that you can use to create applications: 1. RPG III: This is the original version of RPG, which was introduced in the 1970s. It is a procedural language that is designed for creating reports and is still supported on the AS/400. 2. RPG IV: This is a newer version of RPG that was introduced in the 1990s. It is an enhanced version of RPG III and includes additional features such as support for free-form syntax and support for object-oriented programming. 3. ILE RPG: This is a modern version of RPG that was introduced in the late 1990s. It is based on RPG IV and is designed to be used with the Integrated Language Environment (ILE), which allows you to use multiple programming languages in a single application. 4. RPG-free: This is a version of RPG that was introduced in the 2000s. It is similar to ILE RPG, but it allows you to write code using free-form syntax, which means that you do not have to adhere to strict rules for formatting your code. In addition to these programming languages, you can also use other languages, such as CL (Control Language) and SQL (Structured Query Language), to create applications on the AS/400. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Candidate must be able to demonstrate that theyve been coding on the AS/400 platform with RGP. The problem so far has been all profiles have been people whove been working on AS/400 for 20-30 years and theyre NOT building anything new. Theyre only maintaining or sustaining existing systems that are very old and antiquated. CVS is building NEW stuff on AS/400 and theyre looking for people who have strong coding experience, people who were coding last week as an example. This is a software development position, not a maintenance role. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 6+ years of overall IT experience including any combination of the following: - AS/400 application development experience - Experience working in an SDLC environment - RPG, CL, ILE. SQL Experience - Experience in IBM X-analysis, ALDON, and Hawkeye - Synon/Cool:2E experience preferable not must REQUIRED EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience Thanks & Regards.....
