Position: Project-Program Manager Need local candidate

Location: Hartford, Connecticut

Duration: 24 Months Plus

Client: CT- SDE

The State of CT is seeking a dynamic technology expert. This position is full time (7 hour days), 35 hour per week, Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are 8:00AM to 3:00PM, EST.

This will be a multi year (up to 2 years), hybrid position based on job duties and needs. 

Position will fluctuate between onsite and remote work (aka a hybrid work model). The need to be onsite vs remote will vary based on current needs and tasks to be accomplished. There are 17 sites throughout CT that can be used for onsite work for this project, however, a collaborative office space will be centrally located (TBD).

This project is in accordance with the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) Nutrition and School Meals (NSM) office recent awarding of 4.7 million dollar in IT Capital Funds. Over the course of the next 3 years, the NSM will up-grade and overhaul the districts Point of Sale (POS) cafeteria management system. In turn, these monies will be used to streamline efficiencies and minimize the manual labor activities in record keeping that are currently in place in our cafeterias and central office locations. 

The Project Manager works alongside the internal Program Manager to plan and execute projects for a company. Applicants are expected to have at least ten years of relevant work experience, ideally in a school or educational agency, managing school nutrition data applications and processes. Their duties include identifying clients or stakeholders project needs and goals, creating a detailed plan to successfully complete a project and organizing and storing project reports and documents.

On a normal day, the Project Manager may work alone or with a team, but works under the Program Manager. The successful candidate will undertake the following duties and more as instructed by the Program Manager:

Liaising with project stakeholders concerning project details and deliverables
Assisting in the planning and implementation of projects
Helping to coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables
Analyzing data as required
Conducting administrative duties, such as setting up meetings, drafting invoices and drawing estimates
Tracking and reporting project progress
Performing other duties assigned by the Project Manager in an orderly and efficient manner

This individual shall function effectively with very little supervision, while maintaining a high professional standard. They are assigned to extremely complex and/or high risk projects that reflect the highest priorities of state government. These individuals are comfortable working with the highest levels of state government and are able to contribute to the furtherance of the states objectives. These individuals have the necessary skills and experience to assist in statewide project portfolio management and/or IT Investment Management.
