About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Kubernetes Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our container orchestration and cloud-native infrastructure. This role focuses primarily on Kubernetes (K8s) and involves working closely with DevOps, SREs, developers, and security teams to architect scalable, secure, and high-availability Kubernetes environments across cloud or hybrid platforms. Responsibilities: Design, architect, and implement enterprise-grade Kubernetes clusters (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid). Define best practices and architectural standards for Kubernetes workloads, namespaces, multi-tenancy, and network segmentation. Lead Kubernetes platform upgrades, cluster lifecycle management, and integrations with CI/CD pipelines. Develop Helm charts, Kubernetes Operators, and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) to support application teams. Establish security policies for container runtimes, secrets management, network policies, and RBAC. Automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment using GitOps, Terraform, Argo CD, Flux, or similar tools. Evaluate and recommend Kubernetes-native tools and platforms (e.g., Istio, Linkerd, Prometheus, EFK stack, Gatekeeper). Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting tailored to Kubernetes environments. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams on Kubernetes and cloud-native best practices. Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability across Kubernetes environments. Required Qualifications: Proven experience architecting and deploying production-grade Kubernetes environments. Deep understanding of Kubernetes components: kube-apiserver, kube-scheduler, kubelet, controller-manager, etcd. Hands-on experience with managed Kubernetes services (e.g., EKS, AKS, GKE) or self-hosted K8s clusters (kubeadm, kOps, Rancher, OpenShift). Strong experience with containerization tools (Docker, Podman) and container security practices. Proficient in infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi) and GitOps workflows. Experience with service mesh (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) and ingress controllers (e.g., NGINX, Traefik). Familiarity with observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Jaeger, Fluentd, etc. Solid knowledge of Linux systems, networking, DNS, and security practices in a Kubernetes context. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD). Experience with policy engines like OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno. Background in microservices architecture and 12-factor applications. Familiarity with multi-cluster management and federation. Knowledge of FinOps, cost optimization, and scaling strategies in Kubernetes.
