Position: Systems Administrator - Linux Location: Remote (Austin, TX Must reside in Texas) Duration: 6+ months Rate: $42/hr. on C2C Job Description: The ideal candidate will design, organize, and modify the company's computer systems. This individual will evaluate and assess systems to ensure they are operating effectively. Based on assessments, this individual will harness collected knowledge and adjust existing systems. Qualifications: Note* The previous contractor had several years of experience in the administration of Linux OS in standalone and clustered environments including installation configuration and maintenance. also had experience with patch management, scripting, applying security policies, administrating Linux running on VMWare, management and configuration of VMware virtual machines including VCenter. Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field preferred 3+ years' experience as System Administrator 3+ years of experience working as an infrastructure engineer or system administrator in the information security discipline. 3+ years of experience with scripting languages and playbooks. Ability to install and administer Linux, virtual appliances, and Windows servers in VMware environment. VMware vCenter experience (snapshots, storage configuration, virtual machine configuration) Basic networking knowledge (vlans, net masks, switches, routers) enough to configure servers properly. Information security operations experience or education Understands change management procedures (change board, tickets) Automated patch management experience Strong analytical skills Responsibilities: Develop and implement consistent and automated patch management in concert with systems teams. Assist Incident Response Team with SIEM engineering tasks. Provide back-up on-call support to the Incident Response team, as required Evaluate or create new technologies and services in order to solve complex security issues Is responsible for working individually and collaboratively to achieve cost-effective, timely, successful completion of Team goals, objectives, projects and assignments. Performs advanced systems administrative task related to VMware and Linux OS including provisioning new hosts and spinning up new virtual machines (Linux Backend). Assists team with CSOC operations Supports Net Witness SIEM Platform for the purpose of threat detection and response by collecting and analyzing data across capture points (logs, packets, NetFlow and endpoint) and computing platforms (physical, virtual and cloud). Performs Log Parsing to create One Demand versus Continuous Parsing, Use Functions for Enrichments, Choose Variables, Generate a Parsing Report, Deploy a Parser, Add Unknown Messages, Use the Tag Value Map Feature Utilizes RegEx to perform complex log queries. May evaluate and recommend action on testing and certification of software and hardware upgrades Provides testing, visibility, and security solutions, designed to strengthen applications across physical and virtual networks for enterprises, service providers, and network equipment manufacturers Requires onsite visit for hardware configuration as needed - Data Center Onsite Determine, plan, and document patching and upgrade paths while utilizing configuration management best practices Familiar with deployment and operation of backup solutions and DR planning (Dell EMC RecoverPoint) Familiar with understanding, drafting, and publishing network topology diagrams and as-built documentation Create dashboards, diagrams, and alerts utilizing network monitoring technologies (SolarWinds or SIEM) Utilize ticketing systems and systems of record for work orders and system documentation Ability to open tickets and work with vendors to troubleshoot technologies If you are interested, please share your updated resume and suggest the best number & time to connect with you.
