Job duties for this position may include any or all of the following: Enter geographic and attribute data from text files, spreadsheets, and scanned maps/drawings; Create maps, reports, and documents using data and statistics derived from a geographic information system; Coordinate with technical experts to resolve conflicting geographic data issues; Perform quality control checks; Conduct spatial analyses which may include analysis of nonspatial data; Import and export data in a variety of formats; Create clear and concise technical documentation of GIS processes. Required Skills & Experience: Considerable knowledge of the objectives, methods, systems, and applications of geographic information systems; Skill in advanced operations within Esri ArcGIS for Desktop (ArcMap); Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as construction/as-built plans; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in revising, updating, and/or maintaining geographic information databases. o Substitution(s): Possession of a master's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. o Additional years of experience using GIS software packages such as Esri ArcGIS for Desktop (ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro) may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. (One (1) year of experience is equated to thirty (30) semester hours or forty-five (45) quarter hours.) o Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification through the GIS Certification Institute may substitute for the education requirement.
