From: Amy Jones, BLACKAPPLE SOLUTIONS LLC [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Position Title: Data Modeler Location: Las Vegas, NV (Day 1 onsite) Contract role Primary Job Responsibilities Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions. Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models. Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy. Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects. Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata. Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure the consistency of data models. Identify, locate, and data retrieval from existing data locations (including Enterprise Data Lake EDL), external sources, and new data sources as needed to support analytics and reporting Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts. Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies. Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness. Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions. Develop data models according to company standards. Guide System Analysts, Engineers, Programmers and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Review modifications to existing software to improve efficiency and performance. Examine new application design and recommend corrections if required. Job Requirements The Data Modeler will join a new scrum team in order to deliver critical features. In-scope includes analyzing current data sources and flows; create data models in Hadoop (HDFS, HIVE, Impala) as well as in Oracle & SQL Server to support the use-cases being explored; and work with the development teams to ensure that ETL logic being created results in the correct data sets being populated in the model. Hands-on experience with physical and relational data modeling. Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools. Knowledge of mathematical foundations and statistical analysis. Data modeling for relational and non-relational databases Hadoop, HIVE, Impala, and Spark experience. Data analysis, mapping, lineage, and documentation Metadata management, documentation Data Engineering Must have Data lake / Lakehouse / SQL Server experience Excellent communication and presentation skills. Advanced troubleshooting skills. Some working experience in cloud environment Physical Requirements Physical requirements include: Availability to work various shifts, extended hours and to provide on-call support as required. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components. Lifting, bending and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. Visual acuity to read technical documents, computer screens and to accurately identify small parts and components.
