Job Title : Datadog Consultant Location : Remote Duration : Contract Job Summary: The IT Automation Engineer will partner with the business leaders in designing, developing, and maintaining automated solutions to enhance monitoring, alerting, and system remediation in a hybrid healthcare IT environment. This role will leverage advanced scripting languages, APIs and automation frameworks to optimize system reliability, improve incident response, and ensure the seamless operation of critical healthcare applications and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in monitoring solutions, automation tools, and IT system observability, ensuring proactive issue detection and resolution. Essential Job Functions: We are looking for a specialist who is well versed in the concepts of new generation observability/monitoring systems It will be Datadog implementation so Datadog experience is must Complete understanding of the integrations with the platforms: GCP, Azure, VMware, Hyper-V and On-Prem Solid understanding of the Observability concepts at all infrastructure levels (servers, networks, storage, cloud services, containers, databases) Solid understanding of APM Suite (APM, RUM, Synthetic) Solid understanding of Automate system remediation process using Datadog Workflows to reduce manual interventions and improve response times for infrastructure and application issues. Create and manage intelligent alerting mechanisms across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments to enhance system observability. Integrate monitoring solutions with IT service management (ITSM) tools (ServiceNow) to streamline incident response and resolution. Optimize and maintain monitoring Datadog platform Develop custom scripts and API integrations to extend the capabilities of existing monitoring tools and automate key processes. Design and implement self-healing automation for common IT incidents, ensuring minimal downtime for critical healthcare systems. Collaborate with Operations, Cloud Ops, and Infrastructure teams to enhance monitoring and automation capabilities across hybrid environments. Analyze system performance trends and log data to identify areas for optimization and preventative maintenance. Ensure compliance with healthcare security and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST( in monitoring and automation solutions. Implement Best practices Understanding of SDLC Solid Understanding of tagging concepts Understating of modern technology architecture Proficient in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, Power, Node.js, Go, etc) Experience in building custom Dashboards specifically for Application support groups / Service oriented / NOC / Management Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Bachelors degree (BA/BS) in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field At least 5+ years of experience in IT automation and monitoring in a hybrid cloud/on-premise environment. Strong knowledge of monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog). Proficiency in Python scripting for automation, data processing, and API integrations. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure) and their monitoring services. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, system logs, and security monitoring principles. Hands-on experience with IT automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Power scripting. Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in a complex IT environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across IT, security, and business teams.
