Job Details Role: UX Designer Duration: 12 Months Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid 23 days onsite/week) Interview Process: Skype Project Overview The UX Designer will support the Fare Collection System Upgrade, a large-scale, high-visibility initiative for Metro Transit. The role involves designing public-facing websites and back-office systems, working closely with product and engineering teams in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Lead user research activities, including interviews and usability testing Design intuitive, accessible interfaces and workflows across digital platforms Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders using Agile methods Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, brand standards, and universal design principles Present design concepts and provide detailed documentation for development handoff Conduct 810 user interviews and 23 usability testing sessions per sprint Design 20+ key screens/workflows per core application module Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and bi-weekly design reviews Audit existing screens for accessibility and brand consistency Support knowledge transfer and continuous improvement Deliverables User Research Reports (bi-weekly/per sprint) Low- and High-Fidelity Wireframes & Mockups Interactive Prototypes (Figma or equivalent tools) Design Documentation (style guides, components, accessibility specs) Stakeholder Presentation Decks (bi-weekly) Weekly/Bi-Weekly Status Reports Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of UX design experience for web-based applications 4+ years designing WCAG 2.1 AA-compliant webpages 5+ years creating wireframes, prototypes, and mockups 3+ years of information architecture and design experience 2+ years working in an Agile development environment Desired Skills Bachelors degree in UX Design, HCI, or Graphic Design Strong accessibility and inclusive design experience User research, persona development, and usability testing Responsive and adaptive design experience Visual/UI design and strong design aesthetics Experience with mobile UI/UX (ticketing or payment systems preferred) Familiarity with transit fare systems and validation devices Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or Blazor Experience with Figma UX certifications in accessibility or Agile methodologies (plus) Important Notes Previous State of Minnesota experience is highly preferred Hybrid role local candidates only Please share qualified candidates at the earliest.
