Position: User Experience Designer, Ascend Program, USC/GC Only Location: 100% Remote (PST Hours) Duration: 24+ Months MOI: Phone and Video ABOUT THE ROLE: Portfolio Yes. -we have some standards with how apps look and feel. Currently have 1 lead UX designer, dont have the bandwidth. Will extrapolate and bring consistency to them all. Not starting from scratch. Want to make sure the user is built into the front end of the project . basic interface design, mockups. Doesnt necessarily need to be functional. Then applying branding. Not a super senior person . can help the developers, largely on custom apps. Not on enterprise applications. That could come up down the road. -user analysis -not front end developer -be intuitive Interview Process (how many rounds and any details) needs to get back to me on this About the project: Where are you at with the implementation -Initiative is called Ascend 2.0. b/c in the past, had a go at this effort and had to hold on the project. 2nd effort. -Ascend program is the most major enterprise system project currently. 2 application deployments. 1 for procurement, bigger part is for our implementation of Oracle Financials Cloud. This will be our new ecosystem for financials (incl purchasing and procurement). -The resources can work on both types of systems (purchasing and procurement) depending on where we are in the cycle -have been ramping for the last 6-7 months, somewhat of a team in place. Working with Deloitte as systems integration partner. Trying to build IT services team members to contribute where outlined by them -2 year project, highly complex. Bigger part is integration activities, some custom app dev activities addressed mainly through Oracle Cloud. -we have a program director overseeing that (Mark Dimeo). 3 main workstreams: Technology workstream. OCM workstream. Functional workstream (our finance organization, SMEs, helping to define the workflows, configurations of platforms, defining processes). Looking at process improvements. -also layering [chart or charge] of accounts. Financial systems. How you charge. New approach, which causes more complexity. A lot of downstream efforts -moving from current system to future state system. Data has to move along as well. Exciting financial information, vendor information. Electronic payments, invoicing still need to happen. -we are transitioning from mainframe legacy system to the cloud. Going in stages. -we have a website, already sent out a kickoff announcement. Have had some challenges with OCM area. Need skilled people. Just hired a director who is coming aboard in the next couple weeks. Will be this persons team. Assignment allows for remote work but candidates must work within the United States for the duration of the assignment and work on Pacific time. User Experience Designer, Ascend Program Project Duration: 2 (two) years Resources Needed: 1 (one) Project or Assignment summary: The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Information Technology Services organization is seeking an experienced User Experience (UX) Designer with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join the ASCEND Program team. As the UX Designer, you will be an integral member of the team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to implement an enterprise cloud-based financial system that will transform our approach to managing the enterprise. The User Experience (UX) Designer will collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to design, prototype, test and implement user-centered design principles to ensure applications provide exceptional, intuitive and user-friendly user interface (UI) designs. The UX Designer will have the responsibility for applying industry-standard techniques and principles to design user interfaces for custom and vendor applications. Responsibilities include ensuring consistent application of UI design elements and branding, wire-framing, and prototyping of user-friendly and engaging experiences for customers through the application of usability research, user testing, and iterative UI development. The person assigned to the role will collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to elicit requirements, conduct interviews, and identification of user or platform personas, Desired Qualifications: Five or more years of experience in User Experience Design or application development. Ability to define aesthetic and functional specifications that leverage modern design and technology in creating engaging interfaces. Proficient skill in creating process maps, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to visualize interface design elements. Demonstrated experience with usability testing; applies test results to improve user interaction and interface intuition. Demonstrated experience with interviewing and collaborating with stakeholders to refine product requirements and explain design decisions. Knowledge of design software such as Figma or similar UI design tool/framework. Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to convey information to technical and non-technical constituents of all backgrounds and levels. Bachelors degree in UX, MIS, Computer Science, Design (or related) OR five years of relevant professional experience and education. Professional certification in User Experience Design. (Preferred) Professional experience within Higher Education or Financial Information Technology and Design. (Preferred).
