NJ Resources is a Utility company that provides Natural Gas along the eastern US. About 3 years ago they started a 5 year complete IT and digital transformation which is also an operational transformation. Replacing all their systems and moving to the cloud
This position is Basically an Consultant that is Part BA and Part Operational Management. This person will be documenting the operational changes that are happening because of IT. So I will be working with the IT group and the Business group to document the changes. Now it is just not a BA. They need someone also that will be making recommendations for the changes. So more of a management consultant that can also help make recommendations. Example: Because of the changes to the new systems, this person's role shouldnt report into this group but now she reports to this group. Or we should create a new group to handle this function.
Need to have Utilities experience preference for natural gas but electric or water is fine
Job is hybrid in the fact that for the first month they will need to be there Monday through Thursday to really get to know the business, the people in the company, and create that relationship. Then after the first month. Come onsite 2 to 3 days like once a month.

Job Description :

My client is a Utility company that is going through an IT, Digital and Operational transformation.

This person needs to understand the Utility business and with both the business side and the Technical side to document the changes going on with the company.

Now this person also has to analyze the changes and make recommendations to the client about the changes to the organization in both an operational and organizational standpoint

Major Responsibilities :

Leverage a deep understanding of the operations functions of a natural gas utility to assist in the design of new business processes related to the implementation of new mobile work and asset management ,Sales, Service and Marketing (CRM) and utility billing systems

Work closely with business SMEs and cross-functional teams to identify and analyze core business processes and workflows, assist in the engineering and mapping of new business processes related to the new systems

Assist the business to assess the business impact of technology on their operations and develop mitigations.

Work with Business Architect, business SMEs, and IT on cross-organizational process-related issues

Apply business process improvement/Lean Six Sigma best practices to the planning, implementation and monitoring of business process changes

Guide business teams and recommend new/modified procedures that are designed to meet business needs, industry best practices and operational efficiencies considering client needs, process analysis, design, simulation, application capabilities and industry requirements

Lead the documentation and validation of business processes, ensuring end to end processes have been designed to meet the goals of the project

Work with the project team to maintain and enhance detailed business process documentation (ie, L4, L5) to the appropriate level of detail needed to support the business with role definition, test case preparation, training documents, and production support.

Develop recommendations for continuous business process improvements, post-implementation adoption tracking and KPIs and maintenance of process documentation post go-live

Partner with other members of the change team to support change activities including communications, stakeholder engagement, impact assessments and training

Ensure business processes are adequately reflected in training materials and supplemental documents as needed

Support the change team and PMO in the development of release and go live plans

Collaborate with the business to capture requirements for potential projects to allow for accurate scope definition, estimation, and clear expectation setting.

Work with the business to understand and influence technology decisions and program impacts.

Position Specifications :

Significant experience analyzing business processes and workflows, driving business process improvement in a utility company or field work environment, including work order management, scheduling and dispatch, field execution, inventory and asset management, operational inspection and maintenance programs, and supply chain management is mandatory

Ability to understand, engineer and map complex business processes that will drive efficiencies and maximize the benefits of new technologies using tools like Visio, Miro, etc.

Experience with leading enterprise-wide business process changes as part of a new system implementation

Have a creative approach to developing, planning and executing business process change specifically tailored to meet the needs of the business area impacted

Proven ability to work effectively with project management, technical teams and effectively translate business requirements and provide work estimates

Understanding of change management principles, strategies and tools and significant experience with execution of those strategies and tools with effective results

Demonstrated results-oriented attitude through ability to set goals and targets and hold themselves and others accountable.

Self-motivated, able to work well with others, and on own initiative, to successfully drive project level change effort results

Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines and proven experience of managing risks and issues to mitigate potential obstacles under pressure and challenges

Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Change Management, Human Resources, Leadership or other related area a plus

Deep understanding of the utility industry is required
