Note: Need only local candidates from TX & KY, Role: Kafka Developer Location: Dallas, TX and Louisville, KY (Onsite ), Experience: 10 to 15+ Yrs, We are looking for a highly skilled Kafka Developer to design, build, and maintain our real-time data streaming infrastructure. You will be responsible for developing low-latency, high-throughput event-driven applications. You will work closely with Data Engineers, Backend Developers, and SREs to enable asynchronous communication between microservices and power real-time analytics. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Development Design, develop, and deploy Kafka Producers, Consumers, and Kafka Streams/KSQL applications. Architect event-driven microservices using Kafka as the backbone for data in motion. Define topic naming conventions, partitioning strategies, and replication factors. Implement exactly-once, at-least-once, and at-most-once semantics based on business requirements. Performance & Optimization Tune Kafka broker configurations, producer/consumer client configurations, and JVM settings. Monitor lag, throughput, and latency; troubleshoot bottlenecks in the data pipeline. Implement efficient serialization (Avro, Protobuf, JSON) and schema management using Schema Registry. Reliability & Operations Manage Kafka clusters (on-prem, Confluent Cloud, MSK, or similar). Implement robust error handling, dead letter queues (DLQs), and retry logic. Set up monitoring and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Confluent Control Center. Governance & Security Enforce data governance using schema evolution (backward/forward compatibility). Implement SSL/TLS encryption, SASL authentication, and ACL-based authorization. Ensure compliance with data retention and data privacy policies (GDPR, CCPA). Required Technical Skills Core Kafka: Deep understanding of Kafka internals (Log segments, ISR, HW, LEO). Proficiency with Kafka AdminClient, Consumer Group management, and rebalancing. Programming: Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot + Spring Kafka) or Python (confluent-kafka). Experience with asynchronous and multithreaded programming. Ecosystem: Hands-on with Kafka Streams (DSL & Processor API) or KSQL. Experience with Schema Registry, Kafka Connect (source/sink connectors). Familiarity with REST Proxy. Data Formats: Avro, Protobuf, Parquet, or JSON Schema. Infrastructure: Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes - Helm charts for Strimzi).
