The Role This role focuses on building backend applications that support digital experiences in financial planning, investing, and retirement services. The position involves developing reusable Java-based systems that modernize legacy platforms and improve scalability, performance, and deployment practices. Working within an agile, cross-functional team, the engineer contributes across the full software development lifecyclefrom concept through deploymentwhile collaborating with business and technology partners to deliver new capabilities, respond to regulatory needs, and enhance overall customer experience. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software engineering experience and strong expertise in Java (11+), Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture. Experience with event-driven systems, messaging tools like Kafka or SQS, caching technologies such as Redis, and both SQL and NoSQL databases is important. Familiarity with AWS services, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines is also required. This role emphasizes leadership in engineering best practices, system design, and technical strategy, along with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams while driving innovation and high-quality software delivery. Must Have: Core Java 11+ streams, data structure, algorithms, Rest API development (coding exercise will be part of the interview process) Strong event-drive architecture experience, strong experience with messaging and streaming services such as Kafka and SQS The team creates their own database at minimum, strong SQL (experience creating tables, version control for database (ex. Liquibase). Relational database experience. Must have noSQL experience with some database (MongoDB, DynamoDB) Must have AWS provisioning skills (not just deployment experience) AWS SQS, EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, Kinesis Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes Must have experience developing CI/CD pipelines from scratch Nice to Have: Cloud Formation Templates, Terraform Regards!!
