Job Description Title: Technical Project manager Location: Irvine, CA(hybrid) Visa: No H1B & CPT Key Responsibilities: Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced technical project management professional with a full understanding of project management framework, relevant policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues. Document and track detailed meeting minutes for every project meeting including identified action items, risks, and issues. Manages projects of diverse scope, size, impact, and budget and/or project team size. Has overall project management responsibility. Assembles and supports moderate to large project teams, develops detailed project charter and schedule, develops budget, and resource requirements. Collaborates with project teams in an effective and collaborative manner to meet project deliverables with the goal of completing the project on schedule and within budget constraints. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Oversees the project from initiation to closing including system integration and setup of post-delivery operational support and maintenance; for vendor implementation projects, act as the single point of contact in interaction with vendors and managing risk/issues. Identify stakeholders, facilitate requirements analysis and fit-gap sessions, recording key functional requirements and group decisions. Document all decisions related to newly defined procedures. Executive level project sponsorship and interaction. Daily/Weekly responsibilities/requirements: Must independently manage variety of technical projects from inception to closing. Must employ and/or adapt industry standard project management methodologies to fit the needs of the organization and project. Extensive experience developing and managing detailed project plans, scope, budget, resources, risk, and issues. Organizes and leads activities relating to the execution of project deliverables and mitigation/resolution of risk/issues. Strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned projects. Good judgement in identifying concerns that require support vs escalation. Ability to apply critical thinking in a methodical and logical manner to solve problems. Exceptional stakeholder management with strong written and verbal communication skills. Longer term contract engagements and/or employment experience indicating full cycle responsibility and completion of projects. Experience managing vendor software/system implementation projects. Ability to manage multiple projects. Experience Skillset Required: 5+ years of direct, hands-on IT project management experience. Five to ten years relevant experience with BA/BS in related field, or three to five years relevant experience with MA/MS in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Project Management in an IT environment. Demonstrates excellent communication (verbal and in written) and interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with a broad range of personnel at all levels across the campus and with varying levels of technical knowledge and/or understanding of project management concepts. Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks. Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques. Able to identify project risk and proactively manage it by developing creative solutions and engaging the team to respond. Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives. Proven leadership ability. Effective problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments. Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress. Demonstrated highly advanced organization and project management skills. Demonstrated strong conceptual and planning skills to analyze projects of broad and diverse scope. Understands the cost impact of projects, project tracking tools and metrics. Strong ability leading colleagues and stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, milestones, and critical success factors and gates for moving from phase to phase. Proficient in compiling and presenting project status in varying ways to meet the needs and to be understandable by the intended audience. Effective at leading meetings with cross-functional (business users and technical staff) teams. Strong proficiency in MS Project. PMP required. Preferred experience: CSM, ITIL certifications. Knowledge of Smartsheet , Confluence, JIRA or other project scheduling/collaboration tools. Need seasoned, experienced technical project management professional to manage a campus mandate initiative to implement specific policy compliance on all IT systems owned by Office of Information Technology (OIT). The project has an implementation deadline of Dec 2023. Based on allocation needs of this project, any unused capacity will be utilized to manage other IT projects in the PMO pipeline.
