GitLab/DevOps Administrator Location: Dallas, TX 75202 Work Mode: Contract 6+ Months | Onsite Interview: In-person interview required Job Overview We are seeking an experienced GitLab Administrator to join our Code Management team. This role will be responsible for administering and optimizing GitLab and supporting the broader DevOps automation ecosystem, including Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform Enterprise, Artifactory, Xray, and SonarQube. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with GitLab Self-Managed, GitLab CI/CD, GitLab Runners, infrastructure automation, configuration management, and enterprise security. You will work closely with application, infrastructure, security, and development teams to modernize software delivery, implement GitOps practices, and build secure, scalable automation solutions. Key Responsibilities Administer and support GitLab Self-Managed environments in an enterprise environment. Configure and manage GitLab Groups, Projects, Users, Permissions, and GitLab Runners at scale. Design, implement, and optimize complex GitLab CI/CD pipelines using YAML best practices. Implement enterprise GitLab security controls including SAML/SSO, LDAP, RBAC, backup, and restore. Support the modernization and migration from legacy code management and CI/CD tools to GitLab. Use Terraform and Ansible to provision, configure, and manage GitLab infrastructure and runners. Implement GitOps practices for infrastructure and environment configuration management. Administer and integrate Artifactory, Xray, and SonarQube into development and CI/CD workflows. Automate operational tasks, deployment processes, and incident remediation using pipelines and scripting. Partner with application and development teams to onboard projects to GitLab and establish CI/CD best practices. Develop reusable pipeline templates, automation scripts, runbooks, and technical documentation. Integrate monitoring and observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK. Implement governance, policies, guardrails, and security controls to maintain code quality and compliance. Troubleshoot and resolve GitLab, CI/CD, infrastructure, integration, and migration-related issues. Support containerized environments using Kubernetes and/or OpenShift. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive infrastructure modernization and automation initiatives. Participate in 24/7 on-call support and production incident response. Required Qualifications 8+ years of experience administering complex applications, platforms, and enterprise tools. Strong experience with GitLab Administration, preferably GitLab Self-Managed. Hands-on experience managing GitLab Runners, Groups, Projects, permissions, and CI/CD pipelines. Strong Software Configuration Management (SCM) experience. Experience administering Artifactory, Xray, and SonarQube. Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible. Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift container platforms. Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or IBM Cloud. Experience with GitLab security and authentication, including SAML/SSO, LDAP, and RBAC. Strong understanding of CI/CD, Agile, SDLC, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment practices. Strong scripting/automation skills and ability to automate operational processes. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced enterprise environment and support production systems. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. GitLab Certified Administrator certification. Recent hands-on experience administering GitLab Self-Managed. Experience with build management, configuration management, and software quality/testing tools. Experience developing reusable CI/CD templates and automation frameworks. Experience with Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, or similar monitoring platforms. Experience supporting large-scale enterprise migrations to GitLab.
