Required Education/Experience and Skills a. Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited collegeor university in computerscience, or a closely related field. b. Experience: Three(3) years of verifiable and recent Seniorlevel Network Engineerand experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/ormaintaining the components of an enterprise network. c. Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalentto thirty (30) semester units/ forty-five (45) quarter units with aminimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closelyrelated field. d. Knowledge of: The basic and advancedfunctions for the core hardwareand software components thatcomprise complex large systems or enterprise networks. Analysis and evaluationtechniques to plan, design, integrate, implement, maintain and troubleshootlarge complex systems or networks across similar and dissimilar technology platforms. e. Abilityand Skill to: Determine the systems or networking requirements to plan foror enhance the core data processing needs for the Enterprise system or network.Solve problems with minimal disruption or impact to the system or network.Exercise judgement, decisiveness and creativity in designing, planning,troubleshooting and integration of large complex systems or networks based onthe potential benefits and/or consequences.Develop alternative solutionswithin established guidelines and standards.Communicate effectively; establish good working relationships with other ISprofessionals, vendors, management and departments.Read and understand professionaljournals, manuals and literature. Prioritize competing requests for service. f. Additional desiredcertifications and/or experience: i. Cisco CCNA or CCNP (or higher)routing and switching. ii. Surveys, design, validating, and troubleshootingwireless networks. iii. Must be self-motivated with time management skills. iv. Hands-on Experience with Hardware Not afraidto get hands dirty in debugging and fixing network problems. v. Strong technicalaptitude and abilityto research and solve complexissues independently. vi. Ability to effectively communicate updates, issues and resolutions to all levelsof the organization. vii. Excellent technicaland laymans writtenand verbal communication skills. g. For softwaredefined network assignments: Recent and verifiable experience with the design and/or deployment and implementation of these technologies i. Cisco APIC Controllers and ACI Data Center Fabricused in a multi-tenant environment (i.e. Service Provider model), ii. Cisco DNA Centerand Software DefinedAccess (SDA) - used in a multi-tenant environment (i.e. ServiceProvider model) iii. Cisco ISE, including support for 802.1xand in conjunction with CiscoSDA and PXGrid iv. Palo Alto Networks (PAN) NGFWs and Security Policygeneration v. F5, BIG IP, including extendedsecurity features such as ASM Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki, Nexus, DNAC, and Identity Services Engine II. Additional Requirements a. The Network Engineermust be locatedwithin the San Francisco Bay Area. b. Available to be onsite c. Engineer, install, configureand document Enterprise level networks and devices according to Business requirements.Network devices include but are not limited to: CISCO 9XXX Catalyst, 38XXSwitches, CISCO NEXUS, CISCO 65XX, CISCO 45XX, ASA55XX, CISCO VPN Appliances, F5 LTM/GTM and Palo Alto NGFW as well as fixed wireless technologies and commercial gradeWAPs, session border controllers, Teams PSTN environment d. Engineer and implement networks using variousrouting protocols including OSPF, and Enterprise level BGP. e. Site survey, analyze, plan, implement, patch, upgrade and troubleshoot complexnetwork configurations. f. Rack/Stack/Patch network enterprise equipment g. Experience with Ekahau, wifi site survey, design, validating, andtroubleshooting wireless networks. h. Demonstrable knowledge of all layersof the Open Systems Interconnect Layers (OSI). i. Experience with Flukenetwork analyzers and other networkanalysis tools. j. Plan, implement and provide primarysupport of disasterrecovery and backupof network infrastructure,implementation of network security policies and network performance. k. Validate network specifications and network equipmentconfigurations based upon businessrequirements. l. Engineer solutions for complex networking challenges through detail analysis. m. Provide strongcustomer service and facilitate collaboration between project teams andclients. n. Ensure that all documentation on process and procedures are available and updatedregularly. o. Train and mentortechnical staff and co-workers. p. Establish network procedures and standards. Developalternative solutions to problemswithin established guidelines and standards. q. Work closely with our other Systems and Network Engineers and Network Operations Staff to ensure network connectivity requirements are fulfilledin a timely manner. r.s u.
