Please find the below job description and if you are interested, please forward your resume to [email protected] Role: Sr/Lead Network engineer Duration: 12 Months Location: Deerfield, MA -Onsite Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Configures and manages on-prem and cloud-based network systems and software, including routers, switches, wireless network systems, VPN, VOIP, and ARIN resources; In collaboration with vendors and the ITS Networks and Systems Technician, installs and maintains network hardware and software; Works with the Systems Administrator, to configure and manage DNS, DHCP, SSL Certificates, logging servers, and registration systems and processes for non-domain joined devices; Implements, maintains and documents network security policies in accordance with Academy policies and in compliance with state and federal laws; Implements and maintains systems for legal discovery of digital records, and assists with incident response and fulfillment of records requests; Collaborates with physical plant staff and vendors on the installation and maintenance of the campus copper and optical network; Researches and recommends software, hardware, and cloud-based solutions to support the Academys network infrastructure needs; Strives to develop a working knowledge of critical server and storage systems in order to provide backup support for the Academys Systems Administrator; In conjunction with ITS leadership, formulates and maintains data security, retention, and backup policies, to ensure that all institutional data and systems are secure, protected, recoverable, and accessible at all times; In conjunction with ITS leadership, formulates and maintains business continuity and disaster recovery plans; Documents the installation and configuration of network hardware, software, and cloud-based systems; Participates in ITS technical on-call rotation, and assists with security incident response; Qualifications should include: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field required; advanced degree and network management certifications preferred; 5-7 years of experience managing a complex network environment, including fiber backbone, routing and switching, secure wireless networks, and remote VPNs required Experience working at a residential academic institution preferred Extensive knowledge of network hardware and software, and network protocols; working knowledge of server-based systems, e.g., Windows, Linux, Active Directory policies & groups, application services, file and print services, server-based security, and server virtualization; A solid understanding of cloud-based systems and services such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; strong written and oral communication skills; Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Capacity to lead teams, participate as an effective member of a team, and to work collaboratively and effectively with peers; strong customer service orientation; willingness and ability to learn additional technologies as needed Sensitivity to confidential information and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
