Job Title: IT - Database Administrator - MySQL Position Location: Hybrid expectation estimated at 2 days/week. Primary location: Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Birmingham, Dallas Secondary: Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Kansas City Ability to work remote: Yes Intended length of Assignment: 6 months before FTE consideration--- NO VISA CANDIDATES Working Hours (Flexible): Yes - must work core PNC hours regardless of time zone Travel: No Days of the week: what days of the week will this candidate be working M-F; weekends: as-needed if there's a release; evenings: as-needed if there's a release OT (if applicable should it be added to budget on request): rarely Reason for open position: Replacement Describe the current initiatives that this resource will be impacting: Platform support to mitigate risk Day to Day Responsibilities: Install, patch, upgrade, configure, tune, and maintain MySQL databases (current version 5.7.23-8.0.28 and some older versions at <5.7.18) Troubleshoot critical performance bottlenecks for MySQL databases Review and assess the impact of database design changes prior to their implementation Collaborate with other IT teams and Vendors to resolve complex and multi-disciplinary issues Work independently and represent database group in various projects Ensure that databases are monitored, maintained, backed up, and available as appropriate. Manage database security with an adherence to PNCs security policy Review stress testing results and provide recommendations to development teams Automate management tasks, streamline processes, and perform standard administrative functions Mentor, assist, encourage, and serve as a backup to other team members Assist in Production releases for Critical Production Applications Assist for Complex P1/P2 Incident Management as required (24x7 On-Call) Understanding of MySQLs underlying storage engines and ability to learn new architectures Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases Analytical skills necessary to perform troubleshooting of errors and performance issues Strong verbal and written communication skills Results-oriented and able to work across the organization as an individual contributor Ability to work in a rapidly transforming organization Excellent customer service skills Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts Technically proficient in assigned IT discipline(s) Ability to deliver consistent, high-quality, cost-effective service by handling routine, as well as some non-routine, systems issues Required Skills: Mention the years of experience of the below skillsets: MySQL (required) - version 5.7.23-8.0.28 and some older versions at <5.7.18 MySQL 5.7.x and 8.0.x Enterprise Edition MySQL Complex P1/P2 Incident Management Work experience with OLTP, OLAP, Staging, and Data warehouse configuration.
