Where is the candidate currently geographically located

Must be able to travel to all NJTLMR and office locations when necessary (includes tri-state area of PA, NJ, and NY). Mileage will be reimbursed by NJ Transit

Engage in the project management, maintenance, and administration of the NJT MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) Network and, assist with associated non-MPLS components, consisting of digital microwave ring and Radio over IP network.

Develop schedules and procedures (SOW/MOP) for planned maintenance or upgrades.

Coordinate NJT network staff, NJT Radio System staff, Telco Carriers, other internal work force (IT. NOC, etc.) and outside contractors on hardware and application installations, upgrades, and maintenance.

Coordinate with Change Management team to properly schedule efforts in accordance with the NJT outage/maintenance window guidelines.

Produce and continually update necessary reference documentation to include all equipment (using vendor cut sheets), configurations and interconnection details.

Review all release notes, TSBs, PCNs etc. as they relate to the MPLS and microwave networks.

Provide guidance on potential need to upgrade.

Determine any end of life or end of support concerns and provide guidance on how to replace aged/sunset equipment or software.

Attend all regular staff meetings and corporate conferences as scheduled.

Provide a weekly report outlining all efforts active and completed during previous work period. Provide details on active issues and recommendations for resolution.

Conduct walkthroughs and on-site surveys with contractors, carriers and NJT staff for any new installs or upgrades.

Follow up and manage on-site installations and upgrades of equipment and services. Collect all relevant manuals, software and other documentation required to support and maintain new or upgraded equipment.

Receive and review contractor proposals for accuracy and completeness.

Support the creation of necessary paperwork for procurement of goods and services related to LMR network hardware and software.

Participate in department audit process of all MPLS network elements to validate configuration and hardware required to meet LMR needs.  Support asset management personnel in helping produce reports and action plans to mitigate and implement changes under NJT management guidance.

Daily surveillance and monitoring of MPLS network to proactively identify alarms, issues, and outages, and to resolve in a prompt manner. Where necessary, will open a trouble ticket to NJT Radio tier 1 team to support isolation of issue and restoral efforts.

Will advise NJT NOC of all events which may trigger an alarm being monitored by NOC team prior to performing any work and again once work is completed.

Open support tickets with NOKIA when necessary and follow through until issue resolved.

Download and distribute updated manuals as well as software needed during any upgrade process.

As a subject matter expert (SME), provide hands on and remote training to all radio technical staff where necessary to complete tasks on time/on schedule.

7210 SAS-K5 and SAS-K12

9500 MPR

MSS-1

Network Services Platform

Network Functions Manager Packet (NFM-P)

TSM-8000 Network Management System

Fully versed in MPLS design, administration, and management

Familiar and/or proficient with CISCO and EXTREME architecture

Versed/proficient in the use of Wireshark.

Familiar with C-Squared Systems SitePortal MOM (Manager of Managers)

Other requirements:

Must be able to travel to all NJTLMR and office locations when necessary (includes tri-state area of PA, NJ, and NY)

Valid drivers license

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Demonstrated ability to excel in a team environment
