Job Title: RPG Developer IT Programmer Analyst

Top Skills: RPG, SQL, Web Services, Someone who has done it for at least 2 years successfully and is comfortable mentoring/leading others who havent worked with it before, and ERP/distribution/manufacturing experience, ERP/Finance experience with inventory and purchasing.

Bonus Skills: Debugging when there are errors on the system, PTF, Turnover (change management system they work with), someone that knows the operation system working with commands, system monitoring, looking for system issues.

Primarily this is for an RPG Developer, but we want someone that knows the iSeries from an operations or administration perspective as well they wont be doing operations or much administration on the server, but need to know how to monitor for adverse conditions, system settings that can control those conditions, research PTFs from IBM, request potential PTFs etc. We have a network/server engineer that would apply the PTF. They should also be proficient in SQL on the iSeries, have good Web Services experience on the iSeries not just to implement new web services, but also mentor any developers on our team with best practices or trouble shooting. The standard RPG programmer will not fit this position. The position will involve after hours/weekend monitoring, etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a member of a high performing team, this IT Programmer Analyst position will collaborate with the user community and other developers to design and implement technology solutions across multiple business functions that positively impact the bottom line. This role will also play an important part in process optimization, supporting the day-to-day user activity, developer activity, and critical business processes related directly to our ERP system, IBMi O/S, Turnover Change Management, Web services for multiple applications, host system operations as well as ancillary software systems fed by the ERP. This position will report to an IT Manager.

Duties and responsibilities 

Collaborate with users and IT team members to Design, develop, and implement technology solutions and strategies that ultimately drive business value and improved user productivity

Provide support for ERP, IBM iSeries web services, operating system, system monitoring and optimization, and integration software tools

Provide user support for Production issues

Maintain existing programs for enhancements and process improvements

Work effectively as a member of a virtual team and demonstrate high ethical standards

Work with users and other developers and teams to create and implement web service applications and structures

Mentor other developers in the development and implementation of web service applications and interfaces

Use and support Turnover as a change management tool to promote source on the iSeries and to improve its functionality for developers

Monitor iSeries systems for efficiency, error conditions, and recommend and implement solutions

Work as a key contributor to system upgrades, test environment data refreshes, and support large scale implementations.

Qualifications

      Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering; or equivalent professional work experience

      Experience in multiple functional areas ideally within a Distribution or Manufacturing environment

      IBM i ERP package experience required

      Comprehensive understanding of IBM iSeries web services, operating system, system monitoring and optimization, and integration software tools required

      Heavy experience with RPG, RPGLE, embedded SQL and SQL is required

      Experience with Change management tools and managing those tools to meet the needs of the organization is required, Turnover application experience is preferred.

      Proficient problem-solving skills that can produce quality work in a timely fashion

      Time management and contingency planning skills

      Demonstrates high levels of self-motivation, initiative, and is comfortable in a high-volume environment

Proficient skill with Personal Computer Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

Professional written and verbal communication skills

Working conditions

      Minimal travel requirements as needed for business purposes

      Work assignments will be completed remotely
