From: JYOTI, KPG99 [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Job Title - Agile Coach Client - Northern Trust Duration - Long Term FULLY ONSITE - They must be local to Chicago, IL Will be responsible for working across all levels of the organization to increase Agile acumen, develop and enhance intellectual property, and standardize and implement processes and best practices to ensure successful adoption of Agile principles, techniques and mindset to achieve the greatest business value. Contractors Role: The Agile Coach works with a team to drive the adoption and optimization of Agile practices. The Agile Coach provides mentoring and coaching to Scrum Masters and Product Owners, and must be able to correlate learnings to principles and practices with supporting, relevant, real-world examples Experience: A College or University degree and experience as a coach (not while also performing other roles such as Scrum Master) in addition to experience as an agile team member or Scrum Master. Experience with various Agile frameworks and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, SAFe, etc.) at an advanced level and experience with Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, etc.) preferred. Qualifications: Excellent oral, written and presentation skills are required with time management and individual and team building skills. Advanced interpersonal skills that help to establish strong working relationships and promote bi-directional communication within and across teams and programs. Advanced understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, Kanban, Lean, Waterfall, etc.) and software development life cycle including planning, development, quality assurance, change management and release management. Advanced knowledge and experience with Agile techniques such as continuous integration, automated testing, test-first approaches such as TDD, ATDD, etc., pairing, Agile games, etc. Advanced skills in facilitation, continuous improvement, empowerment, transparency, building trust and servant leadership. Able to organize, moderate and demonstrate Agile industry best practices. Ability to apply advanced principles, theories and experiences, and contribute to the development of innovative ideas and practices. Tasks and Responsibilities: 1. Coach teams, Scrum Masters and Product Owners on Agile concepts, industry best practices (Release Planning, value and use of relative estimation, incorporating engineering practices and using velocity for planning, etc.) and expected benefits. 2. Coach teams and Scrum Masters to create empowered, self-organizing, high-performing teams that continue to improve independently. 3. Coach teams to create and maintain the mindset of continuous improvement, how to build large and small continuous. improvement into the teams standard practices, and setting specific goals regularly. 4. Evaluate and mentor new and experienced Agile teams, and collaborate with the teams to regularly identify and implement improvements. 5. Coach the team and Scrum Master on the value and utilization of Team Agreements. 6. Ensure Agile ceremonies are completed effectively and the value is understood. 7. Ensure the preparatory activities are consistently in place for successful delivery including a Product Backlog with sufficient, estimated stories with clear acceptance criteria, regular Release Planning sessions, and sprint planning preparation and elaboration sessions. 8. Coach the Scrum Master on how to eventually assume ongoing coaching of the team. 9. Coach the Scrum Master, Product Owner and team on engaging Management and stakeholders appropriately. 10. Coach the Product Owner on creating and maintaining Product Backlogs with stories that are ready for team use. 11. Mentor Management on how their roles are different in an Agile environment and how they can enable Agile success 12. Coach the skills and value of creating transparency, and how this accelerates agility. 13. Coach the team, Product Owner and Scrum Master on how to evolve Release Plans as new information emerges. throughout the sprints, and how to communicate updated plans to maintain transparency and stakeholder engagement 14. Coach the value and use of information radiators. 15. Coach the team on the value and methods of developing cross-functional skills. 16. Stay current with the Agile industry: Read and recommend valuable Lean and Agile books, blogs, articles, etc. to continuously increase the teams Agile maturity; coach the team on developing a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
