Job Description:-

1. Introduction

This Statement of Work (SOW) outlines the responsibilities, deliverables, and expectations for an expert-level network architect. The network architect will possess extensive expertise in network redesign, network security, Software Defined Networking (SDN), Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV), virtual Extensible LAN (vXLAN), datacenter moves, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), and network architecture. The architect will be responsible for providing comprehensive network design and optimization solutions to meet the organization's current and future networking requirements.

2. Scope of Work

The network architect will perform the following tasks:

a. Network Redesign:

   i. Assess the organization's existing network infrastructure to identify areas for improvement.

   ii. Develop a comprehensive network redesign plan considering scalability, performance optimization, and future growth requirements.

   iii. Implement network redesign initiatives with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

   iv. Provide guidance on selecting appropriate networking technologies and equipment to support the redesigned network.

b. Network Security:

   i. Conduct thorough security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and risks within the network infrastructure.

   ii. Develop and implement robust network security measures to protect against external threats.

   iii. Design and deploy firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems, and other security mechanisms.

   iv. Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

c. Software Defined Networking (SDN):

   i. Evaluate the organization's networking requirements and propose SDN solutions to enhance network flexibility and control.

   ii. Design and implement SDN architectures, including controllers, network virtualization, and policy management.

   iii. Integrate SDN with existing network infrastructure to provide automation and orchestration capabilities.

   iv. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage SDN for optimizing network operations.

d. Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV) and vVXLAN:

   i. Design and implement OTV and vVXLAN technologies for datacenter interconnectivity.

   ii. Optimize network performance and scalability using OTV and vVXLAN overlays.

   iii. Ensure seamless integration of OTV and vVXLAN with existing network infrastructure.

   iv. Provide expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to OTV and vVXLAN deployments.

e. Datacenter Move:

   i. Plan and execute the migration of network infrastructure during datacenter moves.

   ii. Coordinate with stakeholders to minimize downtime and ensure a smooth transition.

   iii. Validate network functionality and performance post-migration.

   iv. Provide recommendations for improving network efficiency and resiliency in the new datacenter environment.

f. Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM):

   i. Evaluate the organization's bandwidth requirements and propose DWDM solutions.

   ii. Design and deploy DWDM infrastructure to increase network capacity and optimize data transmission.

   iii. Perform network testing and optimization to ensure reliable DWDM operation.

   iv. Provide expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to DWDM deployments.

g. Network Architecture Expertise:

   i. Develop comprehensive network architecture designs aligned with business goals.

   ii. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.

   iii. Stay updated with emerging networking technologies and industry trends.

   iv. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network architecture with the overall IT strategy.

3. Deliverables

The network architect will deliver the following artifacts:

a. Network redesign plan, including documentation and diagrams outlining the proposed changes.

b. Security assessment report, including vulnerability findings and recommendations for mitigation.

c. SDN architecture design documents, including controller configurations and network virtualization plans.

d. OTV and vVXLAN deployment plans, including configuration guidelines and integration recommendations.

e. Datacenter move project plan, including network migration strategy and post-migration

validation results.

f. DWDM infrastructure design documentation, including wavelength assignments, optical power budgets, and dispersion calculations.

g. Network architecture documentation, including high-level diagrams, network topology, and technical specifications.

4. Timeline and Milestones

The project will follow the following timeline and milestones:

- Week 1-2: Network Assessment and Requirement Gathering

   - Conduct an in-depth assessment of the existing network infrastructure.

   - Gather requirements from stakeholders and identify key objectives.

- Week 3-4: Network Redesign and Security Planning

   - Develop a comprehensive network redesign plan, considering scalability and performance optimization.

   - Create a detailed network security plan, including firewall configurations and intrusion detection systems.

- Week 5-6: Software Defined Networking (SDN) Implementation

   - Evaluate SDN solutions and propose an appropriate architecture.

   - Design and implement SDN controllers, network virtualization, and policy management.

- Week 7-8: OTV and vVXLAN Deployment

   - Design and implement OTV and vVXLAN overlays for datacenter interconnectivity.

   - Optimize network performance and troubleshoot any deployment issues.

- Week 9-10: Datacenter Move and DWDM Deployment

   - Plan and execute the migration of network infrastructure during the datacenter move.

   - Design and deploy DWDM infrastructure to increase network capacity and optimize data transmission.

- Week 11-12: Network Architecture Documentation and Finalization

   - Document the network architecture, including high-level diagrams and technical specifications.
