The Core UI Designer will deliver exceptional, thoughtful, and innovative user interface design that represents the brands voice, supports our business goals, and enhances the user experience to inform, engage, and delight. The role spans HTAS digital product management and experience design network to craft interactive concepts, artwork, and layouts for digital projects based on UX/UXR findings, creative briefs, and client meetings. The role will approach project challenges by interpreting/developing the clients brand while communicating the clients message engagingly and creatively.

The Core UI Designer will design great user interfaces while utilizing a solid grasp of design best practices; and a passion for creating functional and enjoyable user interfaces through all visual stages, from concept to final hand-off to engineering.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, including business development, product management, engineering, and other designers to define and implement innovative UI solutions for digital products.

Conceptualize solutions for complex design problems, designing intuitive interfaces that facilitate eas of use and accessibility for end-users.

Ensure designs adhere to brand standards, conform to client standards, identify and resolve usability issues, and are in accordance with design best practices for user interactions.

Assist UX Researchers in conducting product evaluations and collecting user feedback for incorporation into design iteration.

Prioritize and analyze user research and data-driven insights to inform design decisions.

Collaborate with the development team to ensure creative styles are within technical constraints.

Construct quick interactive prototypes that provide a realistic feel of the intended experience, incorporating functionality with effects, animations, and transitions as appropriate.

Required Work Experience:

1 - 3 years of relevant experience in the design of digital product experiences using dedicated design tools (Figma preferred) and digital design processes.

Experience working with UX architects who define problems and goals, map user flows, and prototype interaction. Then using the findings to develop pixel-perfect final deliverables for implementation in digital products by development teams.

Preferred Work Experience:

Experience working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology is preferred.

Experience designing for WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), including understanding hierarchy, keyboard focus, color contrast standards, etc.

Experience applying user research insights to inform UI designs, including wireframes and high-fidelity prototype modals.

Ability to work and collaborate in a remote environment with development teams around the world.

Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects concurrently.

Ability to apply and communicate solid rationale as part of the creative process and at all times execute to the highest standards.

Ability to incorporate feedback in real-time, and continually elevate the quality of work.

Ability to work effectively as part of a design team and understand the impact of design decisions across a system

Ability to translate concepts into designs that illustrate simplicity despite system complexity

Ability to give data meaning through information visualization

Passion for researching and sourcing valuable, relevant information, inclusive of trends and mood boards

Knowledge:

Thorough knowledge of user-centered design theory, with emphasis on employing a range of visual and interactive design techniques to build low and high-fidelity prototypes for use in gathering user feedback.

Skills:

Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to explain design decisions when necessary.

Organization and documentation skills to catalog design elements into a company-wide design system, streamlining methodologies to ensure consistent design language across all digital channels.

Knowledge of interactivity, channels, and systematic design principles across responsive design, native mobile design, and other mediums.

Understanding of principles of Atomic Design, including modularity, nesting, and media independence (a strong plus).

Time management and prioritization skills.

Collaboration skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Designing in Figma preferred

Designing in a SAFe Agile development methodology preferred

Utilizing a design system and/or component library preferred

Designing for WCAG Accessibility guidelines preferred

Knowledge in typography, color, depth of field, layout, and design as a concept based on principles of visual hierarchy, color theory, and composition.

Proficiency with dynamic interaction, motion design, and transitions, as well as user interaction.

Working knowledge of design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, InVision, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch/Studio, Zepllin, Flinto, etc.

Knowledge of web-based technologies and mobile operating systems and platforms and their impact on the feasibility of design solutions, for example Flex, Ajax, Flash, HTML 5, CSS, scripting, iOS, Android, Windows7/8, etc.
