As a key member of our Technology Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning, security, and scalability of our EKS clusters throughout the duration of a 6-month contract. System Monitoring tools such as New Relic and/or DataDog Responsibilities: EKS Cluster Deployment, Configuration and maintenance: Deploy, configure, and manage Amazon EKS clusters in multiple environments, ensuring they are set up according to best practices and aligned with the organization's requirements. Perform periodic EKS cluster updates by executing Infrastructure as Code scripts to ensure cluster version is current and supported. Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Implement effective monitoring and alerting strategies to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of the cluster. Security and Compliance: Ensure the EKS clusters are securely configured, and follow best practices for access controls, network security, and data protection. Conduct regular security audits and address any potential vulnerabilities promptly. Scaling and Capacity Planning: Collaborate with Development and Infrastructure teams to plan and execute the scaling of the EKS infrastructure to accommodate the growing needs of the applications running on the cluster. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Establish reliable backup and disaster recovery mechanisms for the EKS clusters, ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime in case of system failures. CI/CD Integration: Oversee maintenance and operation of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate application deployment and updates. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve technical issues related to the EKS infrastructure, working closely with the development and support teams to ensure swift resolution. Documentation: Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of the EKS cluster architecture, configurations, and procedures. Qualifications: - Proven experience 3+ years in managing and maintaining Amazon EKS clusters in multiple production environments. - Strong proficiency in Kubernetes, container orchestration, and related tools required. - Proficiency in AWS services relevant to EKS, such as IAM, VPC, EC2, Secrets Manager and CloudWatch. - Deep understanding of cloud networking, security, and best practices for cloud-based infrastructure. - Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform. - Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools like Jenkins and AWS CodePipeline. - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. - Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
